Nothing stellar. Go 6-for-10 against Tennessee and I’ll be impressed. Otherwise not out of the ordinary stuff. Again, we are talking star player for context. He is/was not one
Hitting .368 over 6 conference games against the 2 teams who played for a national title not impressive folks.
Should have hit .600

I don’t know why you’re continuing to respond to him

This thread is retarded, and I can't believe you let this retard bait you into 11 pages (so far).

I agree and should be disqualified from using the name burreaux, association with such a legend player should not used by a legend douche

Let’s not try to intimate that he’s better or that Milam is a bomb hitting machine..

So you are saying Jay fielded an underwhelming team
You're creating thoughts and arguments in your head because you've dug your heels so deep into a losing argument. I simply pointed out that the bottom of the lineup in 2024 was worse than the top of the lineup in 2023. That was literally it.
quote:Again, see above picture. This lineup never had "major holes." Unlike Paul years where 7-8-9 would be, best case, a single, walk and a sac bunt.
That doesn’t mean he’s a star. That just means he was hot and belonged with the productive part of a batting order that had major holes in it — which you yourself admit
I'm now realizing this entire thread was to shite on Jay Johnson. Nothing else. You contradict your own posts, lose arguments after being provided statistical data that directly trumps your anecdotal arguments, and then just move the goalposts.

This is 10 pages of trolling. I’ll give him credit for that.

I can't believe this thread has as many pages as it does.
He has cemented himself to be one of the worst posters on here though. Odd hobby.

Aside from tanks and Jones, the lineup was pretty unthreatening all season
Our cleanup hitter batted .250. Pretty freakin pedestrian

we definitely had holes but moving the goalposts is going from “Will LSU have a star player next year” to “we had holes in the lineup this year” and “well Milan was OK but he’s not a proven star”

I don’t think you’re using that term correctly. I stand behind all 3 of those thoughts — they all qualify why I question the star power on this roster in 2025.
If you don’t have star power, you’re probably going to have a lower ceiling than most LSU fans expect for a program of this magnitude and with the reputation both LSU and Jay have.

If you consider anyone on the 2019 team a star Milam is a star.
and it is a different question than “do we have any proven stars”
We’ve had plenty of years we’re had no one coming in and had to hope for a freshmen to produce.

lol I just fundamentally disagree and find that pretty laughable
Smith and Duplantis were proven upperclassmen who produced at a high level in the heart of the order. Smith nearly hit .350
You knew what you were getting from those guys. To put a freshman in that group they had better hit higher than .275 in conference play and been a stalwart in the heart of your lineup. Milam was not.
Now…will he be? Maybe. I think he’ll be a good player in his time at LSU. But to say he’s without a doubt a star right now is simply wearing P&G sunglasses.

To add more, there were a lot of at bats in conference play where he looked completely overmatched. Hence why Jay probably had him down in the order.
It’s fair to say he improved and has a good trajectory. But star? I need to see a lot more before I’d trust saying that you know what you will be getting from him in the heart of our lineup. I could see a Beloso or Cabrera-like regression, or I could see him take another step forward into maybe becoming a star. He is not a sure thing to do the latter imo.

Spot High Levels of production
.324/.376/.505
.346/.433/.533
.326/.415/.516
And that comparing their last season to Milan’s first.
You also keep using the word “proven”
what had josh smith done up to that points he didn’t play in 2018
Posted on 6/30/24 at 11:05 am to SammyTiger
You said 2019. You didn’t saying going into 2019. Obviously he was coming off injury in 2018.
I’ll say it again with Duplantiss: he was a high level performer nearly his entire career at LSU - so much so that he’s literally the Hits leader for the most storied program in college baseball.
I don’t want to hear about Milam being on that level after 1 season where he hit .275 in conference play and batted mostly in bottom third of the order. That’s asinine.
When Milam proves he can be a top player we can rely on in the heart or our batting order then we can have this discussion. But he has not as of now.

you said they were proven upperclassmen, Smith definitely was proven heading into 2019.
Duplantiss had his best season ever but heading into it he had 6 career HR. Milam has 8.
Duplantiss his in the heart of lineups with no power and bad Ob%

No question about it they were after the 2019 season
Milan is not after the 2024 season

lol now we are knit picking his style? Fun
And let’s not pretend Milam is a banger. That’s not his game either. If you’re hitting under 10 bombs a year it’s not a strength of your game
