He has a tendency to run into the back of his blockers instead of waiting for holes to develop.
I've always thought he lacked the great vision running backs need. That said, the Jags offensive line is poo poo.

He'll be fine. However ( I know this is an unpopular opinion and will be flamed out of existence for this), his size and skill at such a young age stiffed his fundamentals, in my opinion.
I definitely agree with this. Just look at Alfred Blue. He learned how to run at LSU and later perfected it in the NFL. He is one smart runner. I thought he was a wasted talent as a LB playing RB when he was a freshman. The man got better and better as time went on.

Todd Gurleys 2nd year stats FWIW
278 attempts/885 yards/3.2 avg/ 6 TDs for a 4 win Jeff Fisher team
LF currently is 104/350/3.4 avg/4 TDs for a Cody kessler/Blake bortles lead 4 win team currently Only difference between the two seasons has been injury. Which would be the actual worry I would have with LF more so than his production. Soft tissue injuries ruined Darren mcfaddens career in a similar way. Hope that doesn’t happen to LF
Would like to see LF in a better system before we throw the towel in on him like some people did on Gurley during that season.

RBs don't have long careers in the NFL...especially ones that get hit a lot.
This is his problem. If he “flames out” it’ll be because he’s constantly battling injuries while still being asked to carry his offense. It sucks, because I think he would be a superstar on most other teams. I wonder if he’ll stay there when his rookie contract is up.

He doesnt run for daylight (as my old HS coach used to say). If he aint doing it now...

No doubt he's been stuck without a passing offense for 6 years, not his fault. Would love to see him in a REGULAR offense of the 21st century.

Stop listening to Greg Mcelroy
He says this one time and now its this false narrative that everyone regurgitates.
While his vision maynot be his biggest strength, its not something holding him back.

Explosive
Elusive; has moves in the open field to dodge blockers
Fast; can break off long touchdown runs

Rare acceleration
Great balance
Tough, physical runner
Power back who can run over defenders
Vicious stiff-arm
Excellent vision

When he gets there the hole should be there. If not he should run elsewhere.

Last night's game reminded me of LSU vs. Alabama in 2015. LF7 running into brick walls, and every good run called back due to holding. Meanwhile, Derrick Henry's Paul Bunyan lookin' arse running wild. If you remember, that game was what transferred Fournette's heisman campaign to Henry. Just brutal to see it happen AGAIN at the NFL level.

Fournette’s vision is below average. Most good backs runs with their eyes. Guice for example has great vision. He needs to put in the work to get better. His route running and footwork needs a lot of work. He’s big and athletic, so he’ll get another opportunity after Jacksonville, but he needs to perfect his kraft.

it doesnt help that he gains 200 yards a game but 150 of that gets called back by penalties
the man will need to gain 2500 yards to get a 1000 yards season because 1500 of it will be taken away by penalties

Fournette is way overrated.

While true, there are several stars on shitty teams so that shouldn't be an excuse.

Not unless the Jaguars find a franchise QB or at the least a game manager type. Their offensive line is a dumpster fire which is a no win situation until that is fixed.
It would also benefit him to be in a better scheme where he's used a lot in the passing game rather than used as a battering ram on every play. Any of the top offenses in the league he would probably flourish in. So the Jags may want to reevaluate if Marrone is a long term answer to bring them success. If so, they might want to have a talk about getting a new OC to install a different system.

Barry Sanders still had an exceptional career behind some of those subpar Detroit offensive lines.

Jacksonville is literally running the same offense LSU ran while Leonard was here.

His career is somewhat reminding me of Darren McFadden's so far.

Did you learn that excuse from an old JR post or do you think it is original. Great athletes don't need excuses.
