If you don't have enough fricking sense to realize that jj was the exact reason our offense sucked as bad as it did last year, maybe you should be the one that should stop posting, only person that is embarrasing themselves is you.

Everyone knows and undestands it takes 11 to make a unit go, however the qb position is the key to an offense. Why some of you people insist on making excuses for jj, blows my mind, fact is he's not an ounce better today than he was three years ago.

Last August players said smar shite about jj how he was emerging a leader and improved his play... Yall can buy that if you want, I'm not.

Ya, I think expecting Mett to come right in and do "significantly" better than JJ or JL is a little crazy. He was at a J.C. not an SEC school.

I can see it now... "Well Cam did it". Mett is NOT Newton. He doesn't have the skills running that Cam did. Cams running made him. His passing was adequate at best. If Mett had Cams running and playmaking ability I might think Mett could step in earlier. I can't see how J.C. experience automatically makes him able to step right in at the SEC level.

Actually your ignorance is embarrassing, where you can't even tell the difference between someones blind love for a QB, and someones knowledge that there are 11 people on the field for the offense.

So Geaux TaHell I am asking you a direct question are you going to answer the question or continue blaming others and pointing fingers at every other starter on the Offense last year. If you took Joe Montana at his peak and put him at qb in LSU's 2010 offense would it or would it not have been significantly better? Or do you think that JJ was an acceptable college qb despite his statistical ranking and the rest of the guys on the offense dragged him down.

Simple question you gonna answer it or not????????

Again you and your boyfriend lack reading comprehension. How is pointing out many other aspects of the offense that needs to improve, in any way making excuses for JJ.

I would love for anyone to find a post of mine where I said JJ played well. But that is not the point. If EVERYONE on the offense plays well... it helps EVERYONE ELSE.

This is elementary. You and your boyfriend should understand this. I'm just glad the group of rantards that feel the way you do is small in comparison to the posters on this site. You knuckleheads are almost bearable when there are enough other intelligent posters.

I already answered your question indirectly. You just lack reading comprehension.

Well a significant portion of the people here even many who believe JJ is the best choice to start the season at qb believe he was the significant reason the LSU offense was so bad. All offenses have holding calls and false starts and wr's drop a few passes but the running game was solid despite the lack of a passing threat from the starting qb and the biggest anchor on the offense was JJ's inability to execute. Sure things happen but when you have a qb who consistently misses open receivers and makes bad decisions it is going to drag down the offense.

Again I ask you are you going to answer the question or are you going to continue your name calling and attempts to point the finger in other directions?

Simple question if Joe Montana in his prime was dropped into the 2010 LSU offense would it have been significantly better than the offense JJ qb'd last year??? Only thing changes is qb position everything else remains the same. Simple question can you give a straight answer?

Way to downplay other peoples mistakes just to try and validate your hate of one single player. The truth is only 1 other team in the SEC had more offensive penalties. The truth is our WRs didn't have a "few" dropped balls... they had as many as 6 in one game. SIX. For a team that threw as few passes as LSU, six is an absolute huge number.

Obviously a prime Montana would have been an improvement. But that argument is ridiculous. If you dropped in a Jerry Rice in his prime, I think JJs numbers would have increased too. Or if you had an Orlando Pace or Anthony Munoz in their prime the offense would have improved too. Or if you dropped in any "elite" O.C.s the offense would have improved. See... it works both ways. Again show me a post where I said JJ played well. But if you want JJ to step up and improve... many other people need to step up too. How is this so hard to understand?

You are just helping my argument when you make a statement/question like that.

I'm just curious, which other people need to "step up" in regards to helping jj completing passes, look off defendes, know where to throw the ball if primary reciever isn't open, deliver the ball on target, not throw in to double triple coverage (ie tenn, tam,) ??
Jj is a senior, he has a ton of experience. Maybe you, like jj need to look in the mirror stop passing the buck and take some ownership of a below avg, mediocre at best career.

I think JJ's number might have had a slight uptick with Rice but nothing like th LSU offense would have improved with Montana at qb. However Monatana hitting the receivers in stride and actually putting the ball where it could be caught while it might be a shock at first after having played with JJ I am sure once the wr's realized they had a qb who could hit them they would have led to a huge improvement in offensive productivity. All those 3 and outs JJ created due to his terrible passing would have actually been productive drives under Montana.

As great as Rice was even he couldnt catch pases that bounced 3 feet in front of him or 5 feet over his head. Sure they had a game where the receivers played bad but for every game you can point out the receivers made a bad play I can point out 2-3 bad passes by JJ for every bad play made by a receiver. Even in the vaunted A& M game where supposedly JJ was incredible on the first drive he made a horrible throw that was interecepted that cost LSU points. Wasnt even close to the receiver.

I dont even have to read Rudy's post to know what he said. And he obviously cherrypicked the quotes that would help his anit-JJ campaign from Sheps interview. He forgot to mention that Shep outlined how JJ went through his progression to hit him on the first pass of the spring game. That would counter the argument that JJ never goes past his first read on a passing play and is not smart enough to play qb for LSU. You also forgot to mention Shep describing JJ having all the physical tools to be a good qb.Rudy. Why do you hate JJ so much? Did he do something to you personally? Its obvious to everyone on TD that you have a hatred for JJ that goes way beyond sports. Tell us the truth. What did he ever do to you for you to hate him so much?

Also I happen to know that JJ was going through some things off the field that effected him mentally and that no one will talk about.

A reason? Yeah.

The reason is in Maryland now.

Anyone who suggests otherwise just wants it to be so. . .

I think our offense improves by a greater margin if Orlando Pace is our LT. . .if we are playing that game.

How difficult is it to come in and do better than JJ/Lee did last year? Some of you act like this is difficult. Any talented QB could do better in the passing game. How awful do you think Mettenberger is?

Oh really? Seems curious that although I dont believe Crowton was a good OC last year the games where Lee was given the most opportunity to play, Tenn and Fla the LSU offense looked reasonably productive. Seems funny they could move the ball then but when JJ was on the field for 9-13 games it looked horrible. Maybe Lee hitting receivers in stride like he did numerous times when he went 9-11 against Fla had something to do with that versus JJ's 10-22 vs West Va for instance. Cuuld it be the bigger problem was a mentally immature wildly inaccurate starting qb??????????

It has a whole lot more to do with how elite SEC football is/has been than anything to do with any newbe QB.

If Mett is able to step in, not miss a beat from Juco ball, and out play JJ/JL...great.

To have expectations of him being able to do so as some have expressed is indeed "a little crazy".imo

I think the thing which should make all LSU fans feel better bout 2011 is that it appears our QB slot has more talent/experience since 2007 to go along with a new OC.

That's why I don't understand the poor me LSU fan mindset. 2010 was better, we have a new OC, we got Mett, we are better at QB that before...so, whats the problem..........

Cam Newton
Aaron Murray
Tyler Bray

Do any of these guys ring a bell?

Were any of those fans crazy to think they could play well their first year in the SEC?

Does it matter that we have Mett if he never plays? JJ will start every game this year barring injury and he knows this. Mett being on the roster changes nothing for 2011.

As far as Crowton being the problem, it's a convenient scapegoat. Hopefully it really is the case, but at this point it hasn't been proven just who the problem was. Considering Les had a play sheet and was calling plays, how much was Crowton? How much was JJ? How much was Les meddling in the playcalling? That is what we'll find out this year since Crowton is gone.
