Will Joe be the standard for all future LSU QBs to be compared?

He casts an awfully tall shadow for those future QBs who will be our future. It is somewhat unfair to be compared and judged by what Joe Burrow has accomplished in his short time at LSU. There will only be one Joey B, however....if we can have the type of kids play here that have 3/4 of the desire, grit and determination that Joe exhibited....LSU's football program will be just fine!

The gold standard, yes.

We will never see another performance like we saw this year.

He's casting a large shadow for all future CFB QBs.

Or a true competitor could look at it as a goal to accomplish and work that much harder to reach the level of success Burrow did.

He’s going to be the gold standard for all SEC QB’s until someone beats what he’s done this year

It sucks for whoever starts at LSU next year. If it’s Brennan I’m confident he’ll do a fine job but he’s going to constantly live in Joe’s shadow

I’d be happy if we can get someone close. That’s some huge shoes to fill.

frick no! You'd be a delusional fool to expect anyone to do what he's done this season. There's a reason the Heisman Trophy is so special.
In July 2019 We hoped for a good game manager in Burrow and a decent new years day bowl.
Nobody saw this shite coming.
Nobody said oh Burrow will be reading 4 wr plus a hot while moving the pocket to buy time or to run if need be. No other QB college keeps their eyes downfield while moving like he does. He showed it in Austin and again last night. Consistently elite.
He calls for the snap like a "statue" pro style guy... Until he needs to run. Then he does it for almost 8 ypc. That is extremely unusual for a pro style QB on a scramble(not designed run).

I enjoyed every home game and Austin and Nashville this year. The best!

Nope. We're gonna compare then to Glenn Dorsey.

It's questions like this that give the Rant the reputation for being stupid.

Let's see - all the single season passing records for the school AND SEC, some career records despite only 2 seasons and could finish with some FBS records and national level awards past LSU QBs have only been finalists for (Basically, Russell won the Manning in 2006 - that's it), particularly the Heisman?

Yeah, that's probably the standard. If not, it will do until a "standard" comes along.

Yes, and unfortunately, the rantards will trash the Hell out of every QB that comes along for the next thirty or forty years until somebody finally tops it.

Joe Burrow is way above a standard. He's not only the best LSU QB in LSU history but also the best overall collegiate QB in all of college football history as well.

If our next QB is 75% as effective as he has been, that would still be awesome

Would never put this kinda pressure on a kid but Max Johnson's, play style, football family lineage, all scream Baby Joey B.

Not year 1 but with a year under his belt could be special.
