Will Godcheaux stay at Nose, or slide over to DE?

I posted this in a different thread about DBs, but some of the new developments have me curious about DG's role and wanted to discuss.
Reading this and if Valentine does indeed make it to the field, could this kick Godcheaux out to DE, which it seems his build--and skill set--might be most suited for? think he's definitely a 3-4 DE in the NFL. I--and a few others--also think he's our best defensive player and wondered how he'd be used at the nose. So, do we think a rotation of:
Gilmore
Alexander
Valentine
is good--and experienced--enough to hold down the nose to allow a DE rotation of:
Godcheaux
Neal
Lacature
Herron
Or do they stick to the original plan(which was hatched without the thought of Valentine being available or Aranda seeing big Ed in person) of Godcheaux at the nose to get our best players on the field?
There is just so much damn versatile talent and depth at Aramda's disposal with this group of defensive players, I cannot wait to see the creative ways he uses them. We obviously don't have 1 playmaker as good as TM7, but I think this group--with Aranda--may wind up making more plays than the "11 team. I think we're gonna have a shitton of sacks which is going to produce a ton of turnovers. I think we'll probably have 5-6 defensive touchdowns. Covering the slot, Tre White may have 2-3 by himself.

I'd bet Godchaux is at nose for the first snap of the season. Who knows what could change later in the year.
Godchaux is a prototypical NFL 3-4 end though.

Valentine and Alexander hold down the nose in the base 3-4 along with maybe Gilmore also
Godchaux plays DE and slides inside next to Lacoutre on 4 man sets
Base 3-4
SDE- Godchaux/Lacoutre/Logan
NT- Valentine/Gilmore/Alexander
WDE-Neal/Herron/Clark
4 down
SDE-Key/Washington
NT-Lacoutre/Lawrence
DT-Godchaux/Herron
WDE-Neal/Bower

No question. And since we're running a 3-4 with NFL talent, I think moving him makes sense unless 1) they're not comfortable with the other noses yet or 2) Afanda has a specific way he wants to use DG to take advantage of college OLs.

I think it'll depend on the situation. Some plays he'll be inside and others at DE. It'll be more of a down and distance thing. A lot of guys will rotate in and out in Aranda's scheme.

Aranda likes to run a different 3-4 than your prototypical NFL 3-4, relying on Godchaux's combination of speed and power to cause chaos on the OL as opposed to relying on the stereotypical space eater NT. That being said, if we do get Valentine, and he's as good as advertised, that changes how you run a DL. Especially since Aranda is all about setting up his defense around his players' strengths.
IF Valentine is on the team and as good as we think he may be, i think we start looking at two different DL groups that work two different ways. One with Godchaux at NT and the other with Valentine. Both working different ways, Godchaux's being Aramda's brand, Valentine being more traditional NFL 3-4.
Also, watch out for Rashaad Lawrence. He's going to contribute some quality minutes.

Unless Valentine shows up ready to go, Godchaux is going to spend most of his time in the 3-4 at NT. Alexander may be a beast, and will be in the rotation, but you can't expect a true freshman interior linemen to be anything more if you want to be successful in the SEC. There are just too many maulers on the otherside who've got experience and years in strength programs.

Something about Godchaux and Neal at the DE spots gets my motor humming.
Key and Beckwith running behind them and Valentine/Gilmore/Lac in the middle.
Tasty.

True, maybe I'm giving Gilmore a little too much credit that he can be the experienced NT of the group. But he's not really all that experienced at all for a 4th year guy.

If Someone can Dominate at Nose to Move Godcheaux to the end, LSU becomes a much better team IMO, but Godcheaux at NG is still going to be lethal..

Where is Lawrence lining up?
Posted on 7/20/16 at 11:09 am to Hot Carl
I had a chance meeting with Gilmores dad this past father's day in a restaurant in Fredericksburg Va. And it sounded like he was going to get more playing time. It also sounded like coach O was a blessing for his career moving forward.

I could see Valentine, Gilmore, Alexander ultimately as the depth for NT and Godchaux sliding into a natural 3-4 DE role

Do yall just see Lawrence playing DT in the 4-3 and DE in the 3-4? Yall keep mentioning Ed Alexander bc Aranda did, but Lawrence (although 25 lbs lighter) seems way better and more athletic than Big Ed. I'd think if Aranda loves Godchaux as a NT he'd really like Lawrence!

Either DE or the bench. A couple of these 5 star DL may be disappointed with their playing time this year. It's just going to be hard to get reps in a 3-man front over guys who have been here 3 or 4 years and all probably looking to head to the NFL.
The freshman will probably all play some--the redshirt is really almost irrelevant at this point except for QBs and OLs--to get their feet wet as they will be called on to fill in some gaps next year. I mean we definitely lose Lacature and Neal, and almost 100% Godcheaux, but Herron and Gilmore will likely bounce with anywhere near decent years since it's their 4th years.

dude is just too athletic to be at NT. Don't see this happening.

I believe this; probably little more Gilmore/Valentine (if he makes it) on 1st downs and no doubt Godcheaux slides inside on passing downs. Now how they line up for first play against Wisc, who knows? Obviously depends on Fall camp and how Alexander/Lawrence perform. Would love to have Godcheaux at DE but not worried about this group at all.

Could be but I kinda agree that I bet he is starting at NT the first game. He might not stay there but I think he starts. I think there will be a lot of rotating and finding guys spots for the first couple of games before everyone gets settled in. Now I don't know if that is a good thing or not but I think with change to the defensive scheme it will happen.

He could be a guy every now and then you put in there to beat the center off the ball and cause disruption in the middle of the backfield. Not an every down NT but can be an every down DE with a couple packages where he sneaks inside.
How about a passing down formation with him and Lacatoure as the only down linemen with 5 linebackers standing up and the o line/QB has to decide who is blitzing and who is dropping back.

Given everything I've read about Aranda, I get the sense that we will likely see nearly all of the DL play at either DT or DE at some point. Much like many of the DBs will get chances to be edge rushers and guys like Key will get a chance to drop into shallow coverage.
This defense seems to shatter traditional notions of position play. Nearly everyone will be in a position to play a "hybrid" role at some point.
And I think that's badass.
