No, as mentioned before I don't think he has any love for LSU.

conjunction with honoring the 20th anniversary of beating Florida.

I was in the first row of the student section that game. I felt the magic that night. But it was one win in an independence bowl year. A year we had three home losses, two of whicn we were embarrassed to ole miss and notre dame. I have a special passion for those teams since I was a student then, we were passed hallman, and the sleeping giant seem to awake. But honoring a coach that lost complete control in such a short time frame? Really? Dinardo was more concerned about his endorsments than his drop linebacker.

The '82 Orange Bowl team lost to Miss State and Tulane...two teams worse than any team we lost to in '97. And we were tied at home by an o.k. Tennessee team.

They did beat Bama, but that Bama team was not as good as the Florida team, nor was the '82 Florida team as good as the '97 Florida team IMHO.

Yes, that team went to the Orange Bowl but bowl selection was so different back then.

I can absolutely see the '97 Florida game being recognized, in fact I would bet it happens, Dinardo or no.

I actually hope so

regardless of how his tenure ended, he did a lot of good for LSU.

I don't think it's a big deal to honor him at a game. enough time has passed

I know for a fact that he likes LSU. He was pissy when he left but he is a grown man that understands now. I talked to him when he did the ESPN radio show here a few years ago and he said this was his favorite place he coached and still pulled for LSU.

He brought us out of the Curley years and made it fun again. He messed up by hiring Tepper but he had to build his program with his talent since he was left with none. He recruited well and helped us build the athletic building and football facilities. He got fired and should have when he did and today he gets that.

He will and should be on the field if one of his teams is honored. Maybe not by himself but he was a part of LSU history and will always be.

I suggest you erase that '97 UF game from the record books. Made my sister cry. Said she knew she shouldn't have tasted that gator tail before the game. Haha - Meanies!

Slightly related to thread topic.

How many Dinardo recruits received 2003 National Championship team rings?

Looking at the roster, nine. Most notably Domanick Davis and Bradie James. It also depends on how much credit he gets for the 2000 class, Saban's first.

That is ridiculous. Who laid the groundwork for Saban at Michigan State and Alabama? So he needs a crutch?
Saban had to change the attitude (process) at each stop.
So Curly laid the groundwork for Dinardo. Why not honer him?

Curly Hallman left the talent to get Dinardo his success the first two years. Saban built the football facility, the Cox building and most of all changed the culture. Miles should thank Saban for installing a culture the still is in place today. Dinardo? The absloute worst (purple pants) coach in the modern area. Total disrespect for LSU tradition (he would not dare change Notre Dame colors) but LSU was not in the same league as the Big Ten or Notre Dame. An unearned arrogant guy.

Donnie Jones, Eric Edwards, Rodney Reed, Blain Bech were the only one remaining from the 1999 roster. So just four.

The more pertinent question is:

Do we ever honor Saban?

Eh?

I've also heard he's still pretty bitter, so I'm not sure if he'd even come

He's bitter? Jesus, that's rich. 7 wins in 2 years with one of the worst defenses in CFB and no inclination at all to fire the DC? What is he bitter about?

Get his nutts out your mouth. This is ridiculous. LSU did as much for Saban as Saban did for LSU. Emmert is the one you should be thanking.

Some of you think Saban just showed up here and had all kinds of shite built overnight? Most of those facility upgrades were planned before he got here.

He also benefited from Louisiana talent and the sec mostly being down. Now he is thought of totally different. When he went to bama, the program literally built itself. He's and excellent coach no doubt. But the difference between bama and LSU the past few years is razor thin. We could easily be where they are and they could be where we are or worse.

We had them on the ropes...we had beat them 2 years in a row. They got EXTREMELY lucky to break that streak. I firmly believe we were never meant to win that game. It basically was just not going to be allowed to happen. But somehow they are seen as this unstoppable juggernaught. What a joke college football can be. They are a joke.

Not only a one point win but the score was awful. 7-6, which barely beats out 3-2.
