What a buffoon.

Here is an analogy.

Guy 1: apples are better than oranges

Guy 2: you've never eaten an apple

Guy 1: yeah, well the apple farmer tells me so

Germantowntiger: Guy 2 is a fricker that hates apples.

We know Etling struggles against better defenses. Take the Florida game imo was really his audition, He failed so that opens up competition going into this year.

Why? Based on what, his scout team performance?

Just let it play out and trust the coaches. You have Post-MIles-Stress-Disorder. Canada isn't Cameron and Orgeron isn't Miles.

WHy not Scott?
He "talks like us"!
Let's just forget about who is most qualified and have most incestuous, home grown football program anywhere!
Forget about these out of state people.
YAw!

That's what I think too. He's definitely closer to that than 6'0". He looks like a kid in some of those QB pics. I'm not saying he won't eventually be good, but he'd have to overcome both his size and complete and utter lack of experience to beat out a 23-year old 5th year Senior with 20+ starts under his belt in stadiums across the SEC and Big 10. There is value in that. Significant value that gives him a significant advantage. I just can't see any way Scott will be goood enough by September to overcome all those disadvantages. He may wind up being a better college QB than Etling. But it won't be in 2017.

Etling proved what he can do and Scott was barely recruited by anyone. If I was the backup would people just assume I was the best ever too?

Lmao wtf are you talking about? Etling was our best offensive player in the Florida game. Gotta love the ignorance of the backup qb group.

He drove his team down the field on the final possession for what would have been the winning drive had Guice not run the wrong way after the snap.

At Auburn, he led a game-winning drive with a TD pass for the win on the final play. He has no power to force the clock operators to actually do their job and stop the clock on runs out of bounds and on first downs before the ball is spotted.

In both of those games, Etling was clutch AF. That's in contrast to the QB who is transferring who threw a horrible interception on a play where he should have thrown it away OOB in a similar situation to the two games when Etling led what should have been game winning drives. The fact that they weren't was no fault of his. We legitimately won the Auburn game if the clock operators stop it when they're supposed to. If Guice goes left instead of right we win the Florida game.

Attempting to argue that Etling is to blame for the Florida loss is just dumb.

Fans never cease to amaze me. You've never seen Scott play, but think he should start.

We've seen Etling play, he CAN'T beat BAMA, he doesn't have the talent, period. There's a reason the guy's a 3rd team transfer from Purdue.

Lmfao wtf are you talking about. He threw 1 if 2 passes over 10+. Please go and rewatch the game while he tried so hard to not make a mistake knowing he wasn't go i ng to gamble and go deep is why Fla had 8 men up.
Again, those short passes only worked outside of the redzone. Gotta love the ignorace of the but he had good stats group. Lol

Etling is too fearful to push the ball downfield against teams with a semi rush. You saw it against UF (his stats are misleading in this game) and ALA (well he clearly didn't belong on the field). Unless the new OC has some wrinkles with a more mobile qb for these two team. We will otherwise have to hope our defense can score to win.

I thought he was listed at 5'11" not 6'0".

Hey! He might already be good. Just a thought.

quote:

he'd have to overcome both his size

Why? Fans (even coaches) may question his size, but we're not asking the kid to fly to the moon. Its Just football. Sub 6'0 guys have done it before. At the end of the day, all things being equal, most coordinators would choose the taller guy.

utter lack of experience

"utter" lack. Does that mean less than zero. (I kid)

to beat out a 23-year old 5th year Senior

Welp. So much for Canada's competition. Everybody on the depth chart should just wait until Danny "Tom Brady" Etling, leaves LSU. With all that experience, beating him for the job would surely be insurmountable. (I kid, Again)

I just can't see any way Scott will be good enough by September to overcome all those disadvantages.

"By September"? So you start with the presumption that he is not good enough now.

"Disadvantages". Wait I thought he was just short. (I kid, Again)

Based upon what many believe DE's ceiling to be, some desperately want you to be wrong. Decent season vs. Taking the next step.
