Funny psych out seeing how you lead off a thread with “will be downvoted but” and then proceed to get WAYYY less downvotes than you deserve for this stupid thread. Why tf are people on an lsu message board agreeing with you??? U have a lot of alter accounts?

Acting like hype isn’t warranted around one of the best/most talented teams in the country along with returning the #1 college QB and preseason heisman front runner is beyond me

O line is a question mark, but you have 2 talented and seasoned transfers coming in and the young guys were all highly rated.

secondary is stacked with seasoned transfers

linebacker also stacked with experience

The roster is the best we had since 2019. We have the pieces. There are no excuses this year.

The secondary should be vastly improved over last year...i dont know how it wont be. Our DL should be vastly improved ed over last year, with WAY more DEPTH.

Do you not remember 2019 & 2023? Those qbs did pretty damn good in their 2nd year as starter, yeh Jayden started since a freshman but qbs and wrs need to develop timing.

Oline is the question mark but how many other teams have the same issues.

Defense...Baker in his 2nd year and the defense should improve over last year.

Preseason polls suck but the hype doesn't seem to be out of line. Who ahead of us do you think we couldn't beat?

So much wrong with your terrible take.

quote:

Our QB, RB, and wide receivers are very good, but basically will be the same output as last year.

QB and RB rooms are better with another year of experience. WR room is much better with the transfers we brought in and returning players. Are you trolling?

quote:

Entire o-line is being replaced outside of Chester, huge question mark.

OL is a huge question mark but brought in two good transfers who have started a lot of games.

quote:

Entire secondary is transfers outside of Stamps who is sort of mid, also huge question mark.

We brought in three very good transfers and signed DJ Picket. Add in second year guys like Spears, Stanps and Woodland? DBU is back.

quote:

Our LB unit is supposed to be “elite”, but Perkins has not been himself for years. The older weeks brother is not good. The whole unit itself was pretty average last year? So how is it going to be so elite? Good, maybe. But elite? Seems like a stretch.

Perkins is playing Star….

This is just a terrible take

Every single team has "huge question marks" in the offseason. That's just how modern college football works. The rosters are being shuffled around more than ever.

That being said, we have about as good of a chance as anyone to compete for a natty.

To an extent. We did take a pretty large amount of transfers, especially when talking about past national championship teams.

After reading your reasons for not understanding the hype, I see why you don't. It a appears you are either misinformed or uninformed on many of the points you are using to give your reasons.

2 All-Americans at LB. Fastest WR group in the country with the addition of brown. 2 coordinators who have a whole season of play calling under their belt at the exact same school. A 2nd year QB with full season starting experience. Same with RB. Ramos prob only misses 1 or 2 FG all year if it wasn’t for the abysmal LS play and holder last year. Not to mention, what other team improved more than us on paper? I’d like to see it.

Really odd statement to make in the post Daniels/Burrow era

Burrow/chase/Jefferson/CEIII were all there in 2018

Daniels/Thomas/nabers were all returning from the previous season

I’m not saying it’s going to happen the same way but trying to say it will absolutely not improve is odd

People said the same thing going into 2023. Talked about our QB being a glorified running back. He had been in college for 4 years, we know what he s and he won't be anything more, yada, yada, yada.

quote:

Entire o-line is being replaced outside of Chester, huge question mark.

Legit concern. But we also have some good transfers and several players who got playing time last season and looked decent or even beter than decent.

quote:

Our LB unit is supposed to be “elite”, but Perkins has not been himself for years.

He was hurt in Game 4 last season, it's pretty hard to judge that one. He did look like he was still figuring out his new position. In the two previous years, he had a dropoff in sacks from year 1 to year 2, but it was not significant. He went from 7.5 in 14 games to 5.5 in 13.

quote:

The older weeks brother is not good.

That is incorrect, he is good, he is just not great.

quote:

The whole unit itself was pretty average last year?

Whit was not average, Perk was out 2/3s of the season. Davhon Keys, as a true freshman, flashed signs of being very, very good.

quote:

So how is it going to be so elite? Good, maybe. But elite? Seems like a stretch.

You could maybe make the case that saying they will be elite is a small stretch. I disagree and think that expecting them to be anything less than very good is more of a stretch than them being elite.

Daniels & Burrow made a huge jump from year 1 to year 2, but this guy assumes it will basically be the same for Nuss

It would be lightning striking for the third time but the table is set and even if it’s as simple as less INTs and more punts then we are in the playoffs IMO.

Because the other 2 made a jump and the rest of the team stayed the same.

The defense here is about to take a big leap forward IMO. I’m a big believer in attitude on defense.

We haven’t had one player I’d describe as “nasty” since 2019…maybe even back to 18 with Devin white.

Jack Pyburn is nasty and that attitude is going to spill over

Anyone who thinks this is the same defense doesn't have a clue. The depth is outstanding. I believe we will have one of the best Dlines in the country. I had no idea how good Gooden was until I researched him. he gave fits to a 1st round Olineman from AL so we know he can play in the SEC. And as far as perkins, with all of that talent on the Dline, they can't just focus on him like they did in the past. I expect an all american year from him. And our biggest issue with the DB was theDline the last few years. I believe we have that taken care of. Solid at LB with some great youth to bring in as backup. As great as Keys was playing at the end of last year he isn't even starting although he'll get plenty of PT.Again speaks to our depth which we haven't had in a awhile. But the biggest difference this year is leadership which we had none last year. Brooks gone. Weeks was still learning. Perkins wasn't really a leader as he was young also and then got injured. You can't have a great defense without leadership on the field. We have that this year with Weeks and Pyburn and hopefully Perkins can step up in tat role as the season goes forward.
