Very few trashed him for the first few years of his tenure. People got pissed about the Tennessee loss, but after winning the title and beating Florida in 2007/8 he was the king of Baton Rouge. He struggled a few years between SEC titles, but EVERYONE chalked it up to Perilloux getting kicked off the team.
2011 was the greatest regular season in LSU history and possibly in college football history, and after beating Bama/Saban 2 years in a row and winning the SEC it was King Lesticles again.
Unfortunately after the bad loss in New Orleans he hasn't been able to achieve the balance in the program again and has slowly regressed each year. He has been pretty great, but has suffered some bad losses that rest squarely on his shoulders and have fed the perception of the antiquated offensive system.
Expectations are and should be sky high for someone who demands/negotiates $4+Million/year by leveraging the Arkansas job (which is a widely held assumption on why the contract was renegotiated), and following this contract I think he has faded rather than rise to the expectations he placed upon himself.
It's unfortunate that the last 2 years we have seen such poor QB play. IMHO, The perception that Les Miles cannot recruit and develop a QB to succeed in his system combined with the timing of renegotiating his contract has cost him his job.

I will miss him.

I think he is one of the better posters and brings some balance to the board. Plus he is right. Supposed LSU fans been trashing Miles since he got to LSU. It hasn't just been the last 4 years

You have your facts I have mine. The difference is that mine are more recent. That 78 percent winning percentage gets smaller by the week and by your own admiaaion the offenses have been horrible. Tell me who's responsible.
You can't spew old facts and ignore the ones fresh on everyone's minds.
Here's one thing I've never heard from fans like you--can Les turn it around and how?
All I hear is what has already happened and NOTHING about where we're headed. Tell me how Les is going to compete for championships again and I'll tell you how you're delusional.

To be fair, I've only trashed him for about three years. I was pretty pro-Miles for most of his tenure.
