Why was A&M able to get Jimbo in one year when we couldn't get him in 2?

We had him the first year but backed out.
It sounds like the money was too big the next year.

A&M was willing to pay what we weren’t

That doesn't bode well for us then in a sport that is a clear arms race.

aTm money-whipped him because that's the only way to get somebody to come to College Station. And also because Jimmy Sexton. I wanted Jimbo but I'm glad we didn't pay that for him.

Because he sucked this year and fans were ready to burn down his house, something to ponder Les Miles NEVER went 6-6

Let's check the ROI after next season. Going out on a limb but, I venture to say that LSU will have a better return in Years 1 & 2 than aTm.

We weren’t willing to shell out 75 mill over ten years. This isn’t brain surgery folks. He wasn’t worth that deal.

why?

why would LSU not be willing to pay?

You have to pay up to get your man. You force your target to say yes.

They threw a LOT more money at him, offered a much longer term contract, and likely gave him a much higher buy out that we were willing to commit to. That's why I'm really not that mad about this. Those terms seem unthinkable to me, but A&M was willing to pay that price.

No doubt about it. Let them spend that money.

Don't forget the $10m buyout. That is one helluva investment.
