Isnt this an SEC decision instead of LSU's? at least for conference games

I think if it was 9 or 10 bucks they would sell enough to make money and it would be expensive enough to keep most people from drinking too much and you could cut off sales at the end of Halftime or the end of the 3rd quarter. I think $10 Miller Lites would keep the drunken behavior from getting to bad.

At the bowl game last week they stopped selling beer at the end of half time. I asked why since they usually sell beer until the end of the 3rd qtr. The vending manager said that the LSU fans had bought too much beer and management was afraid that things would get out of hand. Not sure if true but that is what I was told.
Was at the game, friend told me the same thing after coming back from concessions empty-handed.

Would be a great idea and it's really inevitable. A bonus would be to improve the atrocious stadium food.

Well if everyone can get and stay shitfaced then the food wouldn't be so bad

Im pretty sure its been proven that the league doesn't have a say in this per the rule book.
LSU should sell beer at all sports

is Les the only coach? I didn't say the buyout fund was only for football.
We can call it the "Nicki Haley Buyout Fund" if you wish.

Seriously though, you figure a decent marketer would have realized long ago that the 100,00+ strong would love to bring some of the flavor of the tailgate inside (and would pay for it).

Not selling beer to adults at a sporting event is beyond retarded.
Ask anyone who's attended a bowl game or off campus game.

Of course right down the road and at many other universities......
"UL Lafayette has allowed beer to be sold during football games at Cajun Field since 2009. Today, more than 30 universities allow beer sales in their football stadiums.
Beer had been sold for many years at UL Lafayette basketball and baseball games prior to 2009."

BATON ROUGE — The first beer sales for LSU football games in Tiger Stadium may be on tap soon, LSU athletic director Joe Alleva said at the Baton Rouge Press Club on Monday afternoon. "As we talk about the fan experience, which is very important, I think there may come a day that we may sell beer at college events at LSU," Alleva said when asked about the possibility. "I think at some point — I don't know if it will be five years from now, 10 years from now — but I think at some point, I think it's going to happen." The Southeastern Conference office has rules against any of its 14 member institutions selling beer at any athletic events.

Definitely an SEC rule.

it's more of an informal agreement

I had a party of four and we spent well over $450 and we were hammered. I picked grown men up and threw them over my shoulder leaving that game. Company tab, thank goodness, but the bar tab and the doubles/triples were out of control.

100,000 fans per game. If half of them bought two $9 beers, you're looking at $900,000 per game. That times 7 home games is an extra $6 mil per season.
Sure could help fund a lot of shitty, non-income producing sports with that kind of extra dough.

There are enough obnoxious drunks already without encouraging more!!!!!!!!
Posted on 1/6/16 at 12:57 pm to LSUFanHouston
The drunks are drunk enough before they come into the stadium, why make it worse. Go to watch football. Stay home watch on TV and get all the beer you can handle at a lot cheaper price.

These college and university presidents would probably agree to the sales:

I wonder if they include suites in that figure. Each suite could be hundreds.

That stadium holds 80,000 people that would mean every single person there would have spent $100 on Alcohol.
I think you're a little off.

There is money to be made in this. Hire extra security for the idiot fans. Use the rest of the money for facilities and what not.
