quote:

When Shemiah Sanchez was 14, April 1st brought the beginning of spring break and an answer for all of the headaches and symptoms she had been having: she was diagnosed with lupus and told she would never step on the softball field again.

And this was no April Fools’ joke, either.

It is a day her family will never forget, for it changed her perspective and turned her from just a player into a fighter. It changed the passion in perspective of the whole family as well. Each of them today sees her as a blessing and each moment as a gift.

quote:

Her brother, DeAngelo, had to miss her entire high school season. He made a promise to his sister: for her entire college career, he would be her No. 1 fan and he has made good on that promise.

This is Shemiah’s senior season playing for the LSU Tigers and he’s not only her No. 1 fan, he’s the No. 1 fan for the LSU Tigers softball team. Certainly, if you attend at Tiger game in person or event watch on TV, you can’t miss him.

quote:

“DeAngelo’s always with us, even at away games,” Shemiah says. “We know we will always have someone in the stands.”

The starting infielder for the SEC team that is now 9-2 and ranked #7 in the most recent Extra Inning Softball/JWOS Power Rankings, Shemiah enjoys having her family along, and her softball family has adopted her brother into the team.

DeAngelo never stopped cheering, moving, or talking throughout the game. Well-known even by rival schools, fans banter back and forth with DeAngelo during games.

Here’s the older brother in action during one of Saturday’s games in the St. Pete/Clearwater Elite Invitational:

Since people are complaining about this guy I thought the board should at least be aware of the background of why he is at every game cheering.

Some of you people are pathetic. You are bitching because someone is at a sporting event cheering for his sister and the team.

Its becoming sad that we are now seeing more articles on the brother than Shemiah herself

I know this is about Shemiah btw but just saying. He is getting as much or more attention than what she gets.

Why did he miss her entire high school season? I'm not alluding to anything, really just curious.

There are a lot of people that go to every softball game to cheer. Do you know every one of their names? Do you know every one of the props they bring with them? Would you know EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM if you saw them at a grocery store?

There are parents and siblings that go to every game just like this guy. They just don't go through the trouble of making it about them. They are there to cheer for their player and the team.

Wonderful come back story for Shemiah. Doesn't excuse her brother from acting like a jackass in the stands.

Is he the only fan ever that gets attention and gets more TV time than everyone else?

The Raiders have the Black Hole. There is a documentary on people are members of the Black Hole. The Browns have the Dog Pound.

LSU baseball has the K lady, the dude he chirps like a bird the whole game, etc. Why does it bother you that there are some fans who do something a little more than other fans?

Because of all of the pub he's gotten by being on screen for entire LSU games and for being interviewed by ESPN's on the field reporters, he's not going anywhere anytime soon. Don't believe just because his sister is graduating, he's not going to attend any future games. It's a huge problem for LSU and one they will have to eventually address.

shut the frick up a-hole. And thanks for starting yet another thread about the "human distraction".

The Black Hole, dog pound and others are only noticed when shown on TV during the games. They used to have home plate microphones at LSU games. You could hear the umps and teams. Guess what? They don't have them any more. Want to guess why?

This guy positions himself to where he will be on TV 98% of the time. How is that supporting his sister? How is that supporting the team?

Because I have been watching LSU softball games long before this guy and will be doing so long after this guy - God willing.

I like to watch the games and not be constantly distracted by someone who has nothing to do with the game. While they are waving their arms, waving a wrasslin belt, waving their hands wearing boxing gloves, jumping up after every pitch, pacing back and forth between every pitch, yelling the entire game drowning everything but the announcers out.

frick you if you don't watch the softball games and then come on here starting this stupid shite with people who do.

File this under things I never thought I’d say, but I’m 100% with Ree on this one.

let me guess... You watch softball while listening to replays of LSU basketball coaches show.

The irony about you complaining about a grandstanding attention whore is just too rich.

Someone should go sit behind him and be even more obnoxious than him. Haha. I think it’s funny that he just had to move because he was in someone’s seat. Unfortunately his antics won’t quit and they’ll end up leaving and sitting somewhere else.

I know you suck as a poster. But you post all the time. There is ZERO chance you didn't see this posted several times before. This board would be much better off without you.

Do you complain about basketball games because the fans behind the goals, when the opposing team is shooting free throws, are waving their arms, wearing mask, holding up big heads, etc?

I actually started getting into softball several years ago. I rather it over baseball. And it's not about starting shite with people who watch softball, I just don't understand the hate for Sanchez's brother.
