Davis inability to develop a serviceable center is why the rushing game was so bad and this is a big concern.

Dellinger wasn’t a true Center. Turner was, but really wasn’t an SEC starting quality guy. Martinez was a better Guard than Center (he started there at State this season). Chester is probably more of a Guard at his height. Echols is the first true Center recruit he’s brought in and he’s a true freshman.

If Echols doesn’t develop, then we may have a problem here. I think Davis got the most possible out of Turner, but the real issue was not recruiting a better Center via HS or the portal before Echols. Maybe that’s all on Davis, or maybe it’s partially on Kelly for not focusing here in the portal, but the Center recruiting hasn’t been at the same level as Guard and Tackle.

Bc he's one of the few coaches on staff that can actually recruit

To me, he’s not the greatest offensive line coach

That’s an understatement. Turned one of the team’s strengths into a neutral at best.

It’s because it is our run scheme not our ol coach. We run one play out of shotgun that’s slow developing with no miss direction. It’s like les miles toss dive except it’s a bad run play.

I do think he was not put in the best position to succeed, we ran plays that were doomed to fail because the QB would never run so basically you were 9 blockers vs 11 defenders every time you ran the ball because you did not have to account for the QB.

And as another poster indicated we had a first year QB who I think we as fans unfairly expected to be ahead of his years as far as reading defenses and checking into the correct plays - he was not.

We finally ran a play action out of the pistol after running 99.9% of the time the rest of the season. I had just joked to a friend that if you could bet on plays through fanduel I would be a millionaire because we were going to run.

This year's OL did not give Nuss enough time to pass. Their run blocking was just average. I rate the OL as a C. We need better in the SEC.

I think a lot falls on the players. Pass blocking is technique, and run blocking is toughness and want to.

aybe it didn't help that we ran 90% of the time on 2nd down.

Throw the ball on 1st down, run behind LT on 2nd down. Too predictable all year long.

Because you guys were fully engaged with bitching about our recruiting class. Now we are getting back to bitching about other topics.

Our coach needs to be fired. We have terrible position coaches. Our recruiting class sucks. Most of our players are in the portal. We loose most of our games.

Am I up to speed?

I think it's okay to criticize Davis's 2024 output while still acknowledging that he's a good coach and recruiter. People are a bit too quick to want a guy canned after a bad season. The OL is in good hands with Davis - ask yourself who you'd prefer right now.

Brad Davis has been good for us. He deserves more time to put the talent he recruited on the field. The inability to run the ball was puzzling and we will never really know how much was play calling vs execution. It is always shared responsibility, but definitely had the appearance of poor play calling being part of the problem.. It felt predictable at times, and just plain bad at other times. Pass protection was pretty good most of the year.

I felt like the young guys should have played more at the end of the year and am concerned with our inexperience going in to next year. We all believe they will bring in a couple of portal guys to pair experience with the young talent. 2025 is the year to really judge Davis as a coach for us.

Players need to be held accountable, but people act like the coaches are infallible and know what's best because "They're in the locker room and at Football Ops, and we're not" which is the dumbest argument ever.

I've said this before, but the fact that the majority of the rant can predict the playcalling on offense is a huge indictment on Sloan.

These guys are getting paid millions of dollars and yet the fanbase knows what we're going to running from our armchairs.

There was no rhyme or reason for anything that we did on offense this year, and I don't think most of the players were put in the best position to be successful, including the offensive line.

I do think that Brad Davis needs to be reevaluated considering how abysmal we were at run blocking, but I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt unlike Sloan.

I wanted Davis fired and held accountable for the train wreck on the OL this past season!!
But he can recruit!! He brought in a great haul this week so guess he gets a reprieve!!
