He made a deal to BK that was bad but why didn't anyone go against it,?

He apparently figured out some way to unilaterally pull this off according to a surprising amount of Rantards.

Most of them including more than half of the BOS members are already gone. And they approved the hire because they trusted the man whose job it was to make the hire. Their trust was not rewarded.

Most of the board is gone from when BK was hired?

I understand SW made a shite deal with the BK contract but to put it on just him when the board and the boosters where on the plane that flew BK to Baton Rouge.

frick that

I see everyone faulting SW but not the people who approved the hire.

Exactly. He pay BK out of his own pocket.
He landed the coach with the best resume of coaches who were willing to move.
It came out of left field because there were no leaks to the press. He used his connections and relationships and kept everything quiet.
I don’t think he was a perfect AD or even close to the best we’ve had, but his connections and hiring processes were second to none.
I just hope we don’t have a shitstorm of a hiring process that typically happens when boosters are running the search.

Cause he offered a 60 year 10 year retirement contract guaranteeing 9 figures.

Incentive that coach to be lazy. ND fans told us.

There’s actions to consequences

Never said it didn't have consequences.Guess what, those same people who approved that hire will approve this hire.

He made a disastrous, very expensive hire. For the most critical sport in the Department. In most real businesses that kind of thing gets a person fired.

I’d assume the same people/person that gave Woody a guaranteed contract that we will owe him $6mil+ now.

100 million. That’s why

From wiki:

In November 2021, Mel Tucker became one of the highest-paid coaches in college football history, receiving a guaranteed 10-year, $95 million contract from Michigan State, the third-largest contract ever given to a football coach at a public university.[4] In September 2023, following allegations of sexual harassment, Tucker was fired by Michigan State.

That was the market then. Woodward didn't set it.
