Why is Wade’s salary double CPM’s salary

Wade makes 2.5mil
CPM made 1.225mil
I realize basketball is generally bigger than baseball. But surely we have more baseball fans than basketball right? That’s just really surprising to me.

Simple economics basketball makes more money than baseball. It’s not because of fans it’s because of tv deals.
ETA: Also baseball is a more expensive sport to fund. More players more games and on the road traveling for longer periods throughout the season.

It's the market too. You will have to pay more to get a quality basketball coach.

You couldn’t be more wrong about this. LSU basketball makes a lot more money than baseball. Baseball is barely revenue generating. LSU basketball always makes bank.

Because nationally, college basketball is a much bigger sport than college baseball.
Take right now. How much attention, promotion, and TV time is the CWS getting compared to March Madness?
March Madness draws the interest of untold millions of casual fans who don’t pay attention to college basketball at any other time. The CWS gets sustained attention from the fans and families of participating teams, and hardcore college baseball fans. The rest of the country couldn’t care less.
In other words, within the national collegiate sports landscape, college basketball is a major sport. College baseball is a minor sport.

Because outside of a couple schools nobody cared at all about baseball
It’s really that simple. You have to pay basketball more to get a good coach or you would be wildly over paying for baseball

And pm didn’t get that nice contract till after 17 run
Baseball has come a long way salary wise and the sec network alone will increase salaries for sec coaches
Bertman made peanuts that’s why the baseball camp money was such a boon to him
He made as much on that camp than LSU was paying him and he’s the one that started the camp

Personally I would rather listen to Lynard Skynard than the Beatles. But I am not so myopic in my opinions that I pretend that they align with the general consensus and taking it a step further by mocking others for mentioning the facts.
