Colin Hurley was a top 20 HS QB. He is very young (reclassified and started LSU at 16 years old), but I saw video of some of his high school games and he was the real deal. Great touch on his passes and very mobile. I think LSU is very fortunate to have him as a backup QB and I think he can be our star QB in the future. Am I missing something?

He hasn’t played. He will have a chance to win the job if he sticks around

Him and Van Buren will compete for the starting spot in ‘26.

If more QBs took the Nuss approach, they’d get to shine eventually. Players these days MUST (in their minds) play as soon as possible - or they leave Absolutely no patience era

He started school too young, was a mistake. But give him another year or two and he could be a good player.

Love Hurley, he’s just gonna have to earn the job, MVB is really good. If he does win it’s great news!

Nobody is going to be given the qb1 job at a school like LSU.

Why in the world did he decide to go to college at 16

No one forgot about him. But coaches need to bring in the best players they can. You let them compete. You don’t avoid transfers because they might upset another player.

Reclassifying cost a year of playing. Not sure that was the best option for the young man to take.

No, but what else can be said that you didn’t?

He hasn’t seen the field yet. Hopefully he can soon. Maybe some packages in 25?

He will have a great chance to take the reins after 25.

Hurley and Van Buren will battle it out for the starting spot when nuss leaves.

You cannot ask for a better situation.

Easy.

No one outside of the program knows anything about how he has progressed since he's arrived at LSU.

I loved him as a recruit. He was the #1 QB in his class before he reclassified, but there was talk that he regressed in HS.

Can't wait to see him play, but there are no college stats or videos for him right now.

What can anyone say about him?

You do understand that college is an audition for the NFL, right? They have only 4 years to make the most of that.

I will never blame a player for looking for a better opportunity to play.

Unfortunately, this is the reality of college football today. If you're not ready, then they will use the portal to find someone that is and hopefully one day your chance will come - if you stick around!

What's there to say? He came in barely old enough to legally drive a car and has watched from the sidelines. Anything said about his ability to be the future QB for LSU would be wish-casting. He has a strong arm. That's about all that's quantifiable as of now. MVB actually has SEC film on which to judge his potential as a future starter in this league.

He's waiting his turn and trying to get better. What's there to be said? He isn't going to start over Nuss, and we all know the coaches were going to bring in another QB at some point to compete with him. Nobody forgot about him.

You answered your own question. He hasn’t even turned 18 yet. He is still very young.
