Why is Kyren Lacy playing over more talented WRs?

This has bothered me since last year. Sir Drops Alot. I was in College Station last year when he had a horrible game and yet, Brian Kelly continued to play him drop after costly drop.
Same story on Sunday.
This guy had 50 catches for 668 yards and 10 TDs at ULL his freshman and sophomore years. Decent numbers but that's about it. Could we not get anyone who had better numbers and more talent in the portal? I think this was a lazy portal addition to the team.
I just don't see the talent. No separation, bad hands, terrible speed, doesn't do anything really. Had 24 catches for 268 yards last year which is way below average for a guy who played as much as him.
Is Chris Hilton not good enough? Shelton Sampson, Kyle Parker, Jalen Brown, Landon Ibieta, Aaron Anderson? How bad must those guys be for this senior to be clogging up space in the slot. I do not understand the obsession with him from our coaches.
From every LSU roster from 2000 to 2022, I guarantee you that he wouldn't even be a top 5 WR on the team. Honestly probably top 7.
Why does he continue to be allowed to play and play badly at that?

are you a coach? at every practice?

Practice players don’t always shine come game time.
It’s clear he has an issue with drops. Don’t have to be at practice to see that when he fully displays it on national tv

No better, I've watched every game. And in all those games, he's done jack shite
I'd take Jonathan Giles over him

Doesn’t take a coach to see he sucks arse in games.

A drop is a drop is a drop is a drop is a drop: 4 last game?
Why the fock do I need to be a coach at every practice?

It seems like BK really wants to play 'experienced' guys rather than freshmen, unless it is painfully clear (Campbell for example) that he is the best option.
I don't see how you could possibly justify Lacy being in your top 3 this weekend. This weekend should be about getting those young guys ready because obviously the 'experience' is not helping.

I'm certainly concerned that the lights get too bright for Kyren. He's made some phenomenal practice plays but practice don't count. I hate it for him but it just seems like the big moments sort of chew him up.

The rationale for playing him is probably similar to playing JD5.

Hence why he wasn't at LSU from the start and had to settle for ULL

Sometimes fans can see a disparity in talent. Doesn’t mean you need to be a former OC. Maybe he’s a “practice player”. Remember Thomas Dunson? DJ Welter vs Kendall Beckwith? Rohan vs Booty? I’ve been scratching my head as to why some guys sat on Sunday night. My hope is that the coaches see the issues in film study.

Kelly has always leaned to playing experienced players over freshman and younger guys. To me thats what happened. I think thats one thing that he is going to change, we got talented players he just needs to play them and see what they do.

I mean, i'm not sure i'm ready to go as far as small school guys not belonging at LSU just because that's not where they started. Look at Jared Verse. Albany isn't even as big as ULL and he's projected to be a top 5 pick this year.

our team owner Gordon McKernan signed him to Team G so gotta see the field to recoup that money

You are being too critical. People need to stop pretending like things are black and white when making a point. Can’t separate? Terrible speed?
He gets open. He’s a possession type WR with good size. If he doesn’t drop that pass he leads the team in yards and TDs.
That doesn’t mean your point doesn’t have merit. We’ve got a couple guys I think need to be on the field and who, IMO, could pretty quickly become better playmakers than Lacy.

You are still coping. Need to grow up a bit.

Oh no doubt. I'd say Jared Verse fricking dominated at Albany tho. Lacy did not at ULL. He also played at Thibodaux which has a decent football history. If he was worth a big time offer in HS, he would have gotten it, no matter how many times he camped or didn't

Can you explain why Lacy needs to be playing over the other WRs I mentioned? He certainly hasn't produced on the field, at all.

what takes a while for freshmen WRs to see the field:
1. Knowing the playbook, including responsibilities, reads and adjustments.
2. Knowing the playbook, including responsibilities when it is not a pass play.
3. Physicality. Are they physically ready for the demands of the position, blocking someone bigger than themselves, being able to get off the line in press coverage, etc.
4. Knowing the playbook.
5. Knowing the playbook.
It is not all about just running a predescribed route - variables come into play and there is much more to the position than just running routes.

He needs to sit the rest of the season
