No I didn't realize that. I thought a lot of the southern teams played at night to avoid the heat.

Auburn didn't add lights to their stadium until about 1980.

The time for "standing up to the networks" is during the contract negotiations.

Exactly.......JA signed it. He caved. He should be fired.

So you think 14 ADs in the SEC ink their own tv contract? You can't be this dumb.

I almost feel bad for you. Almost.

According to Wikipedia, Alleva forced out the coach. I couldn't find, in a very quick search, whether he was forced to or not, but that doesn't sound like something he would do on his own. He would at least have cleared it with his higher-ups. I think I remember reading at some point that he was following orders, but don't have time to research and confirm it. The university president cancelled the season.

As to the players, every university in the country would suspend them while they were under a cloud that big and black. Yes, they were unfairly accused and didn't deserve to be suspended...and they all reached settlements with the various parties involved. The saner posters on here understand the same situation applies to Taylor and Ingram. If they're innocent, they'll have their say and justice later.

Every time someone mentions that case on here, I can only think that ignorance and stupidity are bliss...until one or the other or both bite you in the arse!

The SEC TV contract was ratified (signed off) by all of the SEC AD's.

Why have a 2:30 kickoff in the South?
Why have dishonest referees each year for going on three decades in the SEC?

Why the hell are you mad that we get Auburn during the day?

I will never understand that. For home games, it’s our tradition sure, night games are fun. But frankly I prefer day road games, even 11AM is fine by me, leaves my Saturday evening free

Yes, and JA signed it. I think JA and the SEC should stand up to the networks (at least a little) and get "some" control back over kick-off times. Our fans deserve to experience "Saturday night in Death Valley."

You realize this game is at Auburn right?

But don’t worry Alleva has put a plan in place to get more night games in Death Valley, he’s hired a coach that will make us far less appealing for the premier SEC game of the week

It's an honor to get the 2:30 slot because that's reserved for the best SEC match up of the week.

and $

I think they prefer CFB to re-runs of Charles Grodin even though he's the most awesome curmudgeon ever. Even more than Old.

Its supposed to be sunny and a high of 90 in Auburn on gameday. I understand TV controls the time but damn why not take sweltering heat into consideration for these times? They change times around for games all the time so it can be done. That has to be so miserable for the players on the field.

"I understand TV controls the time.." Then why did you start this thread? You may understand but you obviously don't understand the why. Money is much more important than the discomfort of some providing said money. That's pretty obvious..

60 minutes of football.
30 minute half time.
120 or 150 minutes of commercials minimum?

You do understand that some actual "football" time is beyond the 60 minutes of clock time, right? After out-of-bounds plays, timeouts, injuries, etc.?

LSU has been a night owl team since the 60's. I believe it was Brodhead that started the practice of getting our
games started about an hour earlier so that we would get more mention on TV...

Would you rather watch LSU on a regular basis on ESPN Networks and CBS, or compete against Bama and Georgia every week for the 7:00 games and watch the other games on TigerVision? It’s all about money.

And, players practice at 2:30 in the afternoon, so I am sure this is not the first time they will sweat this year.

There were several years when we struggled to get a 2:30 game. Enjoy it.
