Did our OC outsmart USC signaling it's going to be a pass because Josh is in the game to block? The DE did try an outside pass rush. It would be encouraging if true

It felt like coaching malpractice in the moment

I thought it was an excellent call. I would’ve bet money we were gonna pass the ball given the short yardage struggles and the personnel on the field.

Hell of a zag. They deserve some credit for that one IMO.

The Zavion Thomas motion was key

You had 4 FOUR gamecock second level defenders all flat footed watching the Thomas motion, with the play side LB even taking a false step toward the motion.

This allowed enough time for Dellinger to climb to the second level and get a hat on that defender

LSU scored on the play even with Campbell whiffing on his 1v1 block

I was questioning some of his play calling in the first half but thought he did a good job in the second half.

We would have won so much harder if he had scored...or maybe defense would have keyed to the run with our most productive runner in the game. Or maybe we practiced the play for weeks without Durham in the lineup.

JW isn’t great but he is good at getting low in short yardage

You have the back in that you know will not fumble. It's that simple.

Campbell didn’t whiff. The end made an outside move and Campbell let him bc the play was designed to go off his inside shoulder. Campbell has been far from perfect this year, but that wasn’t a mistake.

The had the RB they trust the most in that situation. Durham will earn that over time

Not just trust but it was a passing down and formation hey ran out of. Having Williams in there for pass protection helped disguise the call

Whiff? No

Sustained block? No

Just enough? Yes

But the key was Thomas’ motion to make the second level defenders hesitate, and you see Delly climbing up to get the LB that took the false step due to the motion.

And Edmonds is a two-time transfer that was a backup at Carolina and FSU and now a backup again at Carolina. Need better from Campbell.

Are we really at the point where we're second-guessing game winning scores?

They were starting to focus on him and stack the box with him in… with Williams in they backed off expecting pass?

Chester and Dellinger mauled their assignment. And Campbell did fine until he was held, he gained leverage and stood the DE up, it was over at that point, all he had to do was not let the DE inside

Josh gives a more balanced look. Everyone and their grandmother knows Josh is the pass blocking RB.

Given our struggles with running the ball when it’s known we want to run the ball, I liked it

Of all the calls in the game to question......... This was a great one vs man coverage. Williams pressed the line and hit the opening with authority.
