I don't really hate Texas, but their fans tend to be obnoxious and arrogant.

Well, Im in Austin for the summer, and UT isn't half bad if you ask me. I dislike A&M more.

Yeah, outside of Alabama and possibly Ohio State, Texas fans are the most arrogant and obnoxious football fans in the game. The NC game was quite the quandary for me in Jan.

I think the whole Katrina aftermath situation when dozens of new Orleans people fled to htown and the murder rate between la. People and Texas people went up showed the hatred between the 2. Personally being from west central la. I've had to deal with the Texas a-holes all my life and can tell u they hate la. And most everything about our state including Lsu

Horns handed us our backsides in the Cotton Bowl with Chris Simms at QB despite the Tigers passing the flu around. U.T. people were cool about it and didn't rub it in at all at work. I thought they demonstrated a lot of class. Sure would be fun to play them every year or every once in a while.

LSU doesn't hate Texas. But I live here, and I hate Texas. They are the most obnoxious, arrogant fans I have ever met. Geez, at least Bama has clearly accomplished more than us. Texas has four MNC, one more than us, and less overall national championships. They can stick it. Their program really isn't as the elite of the elite like they think.

Why Does LSU and U of Texas Hate Each Other

That game between the two in '69 was great.

An incredible game and at the top of the best ever list

If I remember right (I was a little kid) - December, 1969. Texas 15, Arkansas 14

Arkansas was winning much of the game and led 14-7 into the 4th quarter. I vaguely remember a long pass from Street to Speyrer?

Had huge implications for LSU. If Arkansas had won, LSU may have played Arkansas in the Cotton or Penn State in the Orange.
Notre Dame ruined everything by deciding to go to a bowl in a year when LSU had probably their best team since '61; and they played Texas instead of us.
I don't begrudge Chollie Mac for not kicking the tying FG against Ole Miss, which would have made us 9-0-1, but it sure would have been nice if he had. Who knows what would have happened?

I lived in Dallas from 2000-2006 and have been in Houston since then, so I have been observing Big 12 fan behavior closely for quite some time. A few notes in summary:

1 - Like all programs (including LSU), UT has some a-hole fans who recognize their school's athletic success as their own in some perverse way. They are the unsilent minority and do a poor job of representing what the fan base is really about.
2 - Big 12 fans are generally more laid back than SEC fans when it comes to football.
3 - IMO, UT fans hate 2 schools (A&M and OU). They don't really have any OOC rivalries to speak of.
4 - I live across the street from a loyal UT fan. He flies the flag when they play big games. He has a great deal of respect for LSU. We have a great time going back and forth when UT gets paired up with LSU or any SEC program.

They probably hate us because we keep taking high end recruits from Texas - Russell Shepard, Craig Loston, Terrance Tolliver, Matt Flynn, Ect.... & we whipped their arse in the CWS

I don't think its that they dislike each other, they just like to make fun of each other in general.

LSU people have a rivalry with the Aggies. I don't think its hate, there is some respect there, but they like to make fun of each other and definitely don't like to lose to one another.

Who knows the real basis for the disdain?

I think its just a general hate that all schools have for Texas. The Teasips are arrogant pricks.

I was born and raised in New Orleans and attended law school at LSU and I bleed purple and gold. After graduating law school, at age 26, in order to find a job, I moved to Houston and have now lived in Houston (Katy area) for 30 years. I met my wife in Houston and raised my two children in Houston. Houston has been a great place to live, work and raise a family. I am proud to be from Louisiana, but I am equally proud to live in Texas.

I certainly have no animosity toward UT fans. They can be obnoxious sometimes, but LSU fans can be just as obnoxious. I fly my LSU flag at home on occassion and sometimes get some good-natured ribbing from UT fans. The UT grads I work with are all pretty classy and love to talk football, baseball and basketball with me. The overall impression I get from the UT fans is that they have a begrudging respect for LSU athletics.

To Texas fans, LSU is irrelevant (so are other many schools). People from Louisiana have a big penis envy towards the state of Texas, therefore LSU fans have a big time little brother mentality towards UT (b/c it is the most recognized state school). You can easily point out someone from Louisiana in Texas b/c of this.
