re: Why do fans from other schools think Miles is a Jerk?

Given enough time, the truth always comes out. Miles appears to be a truthful, upstanding, loyal guy. He doesn't have the best command of the English language, but that doesn't make him stupid. He has managed, for the most part, to surround himself with quality individuals and he has managed to win most of the time at LSU. Until there is clear evidence showing this is not true, I'll believe what I see so far.

My attitude exactly!

They think he is a jerk for two reasons
1) He wins (usually beats them)
2) He is not their coach!

I heard the exact same thing from some Oklahoma fans a couple of years ago. Basically they said he was a liar and a cheater at recuiting. Of course they couldn't back it up, they just said well everyone knows that. I told them I didn't, and they just said well I hope he works out for you.

Because he just is.

quote:I get frustrated with him sometimes, at least this season I did. But I agree, I am glad he is our coach and wouldn't trade him for any active coach around. I think he is cut from a lot the same kind of cloth as one Charles Y. McClendon. Loyal to LSU. Not particularly flashy. Stuck to his principles. Won at LSU like nobody else ever did. Was bashed at times by his fanbase, hated by the fans of his predecessor (Dietzel), but stuck to LSU season in, season out. I think Les Miles is that kind of guy, too. Even when he frustrates me. More often than not, I'm cheering for him and glad he's here. And hope he stays at LSU a long, long time.
I don't think of him as a jerk at all. I can't recall us having a coach that will stick with his principles as well as coach Miles.

Brilliant logic. I am just reeling simply from the thought of you intellectual prowess and relational acumen.

It is great logic. He just is a jerk.

Because he whips their asses with regularity.

Coach Miles is smart. He has himself in a job where he has been very successful. He makes more than all of us combined. He has integrity. He is a competitor. He was taught by Coach Schembechler. He doesn't throw his players or coaches under the bus. He gets rid of BAD APPLE even though it led to a rough season for the Tigers. Yet, we still won eight games and smashed a media darling in the Bowl. Coach Miles has survived removal of a tumor from his brain and you never him whine about it.
I have talked to some of his long time friends from Ohio and Michigan who came down for an LSU game at the request of Coach Miles. They told me that he was honest, tough, had integrity and was loyal to a fault. All of that seems glaringly true to me. This comes from guys who know him very well.
Coaching big time college football is a tough business. Coach Miles has done very well and has done it with integrity.
shite yeah, he has my loyalty. I love the Tigers and I am glad he is our coach.

He could have run up the score and prevented OSU's last touchdown in the NC game last year. He made sure all the seniors got to play in the game. If thats being a jerk ...

Les does have a way of tweaking some people with what he says sometimes. Personally I think it's hilarious.

I could care less what the other schools think of him. Just so long as we think well of him and things get back on track - which appears to be coming.

Plenty of people think Saban is a jerk, but not because he's a shite talker.

Les went out of his way to shake my handicap sons hand at the Chik-fil-a game the other day. That pretty much makes him cool in my book, definitely my sons!

Dude, I'm just kidding, I actually like Miles (and that's saying something, since I'm a Bucks fan).
