Thought Sloan would be next and get Underwood wrong on both accounts.
Sloan may of been a good QB coach but very unproven OC and it’s not been a good 1.5years of OC play calling or execution.

What is crazy to me is that our offense should've been better last year if we had an actual OC. I would say it's like the edge rushers saved House in Year 1 like the 4 drafted OL saved Sloan. I want to be excited and sure there were a few teams who didn't exactly look great this past week. Hopefully this team figures something out regardless of who is calling the plays.

To maintain consistency with Nuss and to try and keep Underwood.

His hand was kind of forced at the time.

Bryce seemed to be tied with Sloan.

Do you risk getting a proven OC with the chance of Sloan leaving and taking Bryce with him or promote Sloan and at least keep your #1 recruit while you figure it out.

Turns out we got the worst possible outcome.

CBK focked it all up when he asked Denbrock if he would co-coordinate with Sloan. He said fock no. I don’t blame him.

In no way, is a coach who is getting paid at $10M a season walking around with tied hands because of a QB coach. BK made his decision like a cocky, old man who thinks he knows everything better than the next person, would.

For fricks sake.

It was 100% based on keeping Underwood. Nothing more, nothing less.

It didn't work out obviously but the intentions were pretty clear. Swing and a miss. It's pretty evident that barring a drastic turn around he will not be retained next season.

I think he gets credit for a lot of work JD5 did on his own. He’s proving with Nuss that he’s not a QB developer

Because he is weak and got used by both Underwood and especially Sloan to give him an undeserved position.

It does not take rocket science to see that Sloan was unqualified and only being promoted to secure Underwood's commitment and signing with LSU.

It was stupid then and even stupider that Sloan wasn't either fired or demoted and replaced the second Underwood signed with Michigan. But then again, this is Kelly we are talking about here. He is notorious for acting a year or two too late to fix his own stupid decisions.

It was never going to work out. Underwood coming here wasn't going to make Sloan a competent OC. He sucks because he sucks. Daniels wouldn't have been able to cover up for Sloan's ridiculous play calling and scheme.

How many of these does BK get. I know it's not baseball, but it's an apt analogy: 3 strikes...

probably 4 more years worth because LSU isn't shilling out a buyout until its around 30 million at the absolute most

Alleva would never have gotten us in this spot

This is constantly said on here and fabricated. It's not the only reason. If it was the only reason he wouldn't be OC here still. I don't know where you guys get this from but it's ridiculous to believe it was the only reason. It may have ended up with some contribution on the decision but it was many other factors as well.

He needed consistency after Denbrock since Nuss was already familiar with the offense, he needed someone who was familiar with the scheme, he needed a younger OC he can control, etc. LSU just came off a historic offensive season. Which was one of the worst things that could've happened.

It let BK's ego takeover because he has very little foresight into identifying problems preemptively to fix them. If you think Underwood was the only reason he put Sloan in his position you're naive. Spin it in your head again and tell me how ridiculous that sounds that he's still on the staff for this reason.

Even if Underwood would have come to LSU, both he and Sloan would be gone next year. No way Underwood is going to play ahead of Nuss and he would see what LSU has for a very underperforming Oline and make a business decision to move on after his freshman year, and Sloan would be gone also....hard to imagine he can be retained, but LSU has a very stubborn coach that doesn't like change of any kind. He is the pure definition of insanity when it comes to coaching football at the SEC level.

Yea I’m beginning to think he’s just useless. And getting paid great money to be useless as well.

And if not for his recruiting abilities, Brad Davis would be in this category as well. Dude apparently just sits on his arse eating Cheeto puffs during practice and doesn’t teach these guys a thing.

So where did this story come from? Never heard it before until TBob ran with it a couple wks ago and so far seems to the only source.

100% yes. Never let a recruit hold you hostage.
