If Im the opposing team's coach Im throwing head high fastballs and changeups low and outside all day long. He cant lay off those pitches. Frustrating for the 1 hole hitter to be so undisciplined at the plate.

Some of it was just bad coaching choices though.

I'm still wondering why he was playing the infield in w/ the bases loaded in the 9th Friday night.

Runners on 2nd and 3rd, to choke off the run at the plate? Sure, go ahead, play in. But bases loaded? You've got to be at DP depth in that situation.

You don't ask Jones to bunt in that situation when he hasn't bunted in four years of high school ball. The odds would have been better of Jones grounding out to right side of infield moving runner to third anyway.

Forgot about that. didnt like his reasoning either.. Because the batter runs well.. WTF? Was an easy DP ball if they were at DP depth. Instead ball is hit in no-mans land allowing 2 runs to score. ALL because a batter runs well and would be hard to get the DP?? So what.. get 1 out and TRY for the DP and allow at most 1 run to score.

I felt the players put everything on the line friday night and the coaches let them down.

Such a sad play too because everyone in my section cheered when he hit the ball thinking DP then realized there was nobody there to field the ball..

Bunting isn't the problem.

Exactly! We lost to a good team this weekend because of our lack of hitting when we had runners in scoring position.

Our two freshman pitchers looked great against the best in the SEC! Although some could argue that Vandy is the best, I still think that Florida holds the top spot after watching them this weekend. They have an incredible pitching staff.

I would have loved to win some games, at least one, this weekend but we didn't so now it is time to move on and look towards the rest of the season.

I like our team and think we have a good shot at Omaha after watching them play this weekend. We aren't going to win them all, fyi!

If you are wanting to see homeruns college baseball will be disappoint you this year
Or doubles . . . or hits . . .

I don't know why they keep dicking around with the bats; why don't they just go ahead and outlaw swinging and just go ahead and make every batter bunt. You know, since offense is so damned offensive in baseball.

Just my humble opinion.

Don't know if this was posted but.......

LSU has a young(ish) team opening SEC play against the #1 ranked team in the country. They were probably a little nervouse and trying to "do too much". this shows up in fielding errors and bad at bats (bunts included).

I was impressed by the starting pitchers...though Alsup got rocked the 2nd time through.

We will improve, it is a long season.
