I’d bet good money Houston’s compliance department filled out the transfer form and never even knew his ejection was upgraded and carried an additional suspension.
I’m guessing that letter came after Haulcy told them he was entering the portal and they said “ah well, not our problem anymore”.
If it was actually addressed to the coach I bet he never even told their compliance department about it.
ETA: This is all assuming LSU’s compliance department didn’t miss it when the paper work came in. That would be a pretty huge miss.
That's the thing though, Haulcy didn't enter the portal until the Spring window and the letter, supposedly, came through in December. I have a really hard time believing that LSU would've missed something like a suspension on the crown jewel of their portal class if it was on the document.
That also contradicts what 4444 has been putting in this thread about ripping our compliance department. Assuming LSU received a Transfer Tracer form from Houston, which I believe they did, if that form did not document a pending suspension, they would've had no reason to check any further into the issue. It would basically be like an attorney being given a rap sheet that was inaccurate. The assumption is that the documentation you receive is correct. While it would be pretty stunning if Houston was so petty as to provide an intentionally inaccurate transfer form our of spite, is it entirely possible that they had an oversight and didn't really care because AJ was leaving anyway? I think that's plausible.
Of the following scenarios.......
1) Houston intentionally was inaccurate on the form
2) LSU received an accurate form and just dropped the ball
3) Houston unintentionally provided an inaccurate form but it was LSU's problem now anyway so who cares.
#3 seems the most likely.

My question having read all of that is, if Houston is required to provide documentation of pending disciplinary issues to LSU during the transfer process why did LSU or the SEC have any knowledge until this week?
This is a very fair question to be asking... and if it turns out that Houston failed to report and/or reported it to another institution without Haulcy's consent, this will look very bad for their compliance department.

If they had not reported it and he played, it could have easily resulted in an LSU forfeiture under NCAA rules. They did us a favor if you ask me.

What would've really been some bullshite would be if Houston provided inaccurate data to LSU and LSU would've played Haulcy only for the NCAA to come in and make them forfeit for playing a suspended player.

So they were going to risk playing an ineligible player and possibly forfeit a win?

You only forfeit if you know he's ineligible. If Houston didn't report that he had a pending suspension on his paperwork then LSU wouldn't be on the hook for playing him. That's the only way they could possibly know.

They should be in constant communication with the NCAA about the eligibility of all players in all sports, much less the new players.
The Big 12, under NCAA rules, suspended him. The NCAA wasn't made aware of this until Wednesday. That's why everyone is so upset.

This is why every other fanbase thinks LSU fans are whiny pussies.
I can’t stand when fans like you further spread stuff like this as if this isn’t the case for any and all fanbases that have passion.
Why care what other fanbases think when they’ll trash anyone that isn’t their favorite team?
But yes, it’s possible if roles were reversed it could considered smart. Still likely a bitch move.

I don’t care, that what an utter bitch move by Clemson/Houston to pull this within two days of the game and you know it.

Nobody is crying, but it makes Clemson look like bitches

Better to find out now than after the game.
