re: Why are we retaining McMahon?

1. What coach would you hire? Will Wade 2. How much do you think it would cost to hire said coach? He’d work for the same thing we pay the current coach, maybe even less. 3. How sure are you if he is an "up and comer" that he will pan out? He turned around McNeese State immediately. I’m pretty sure this won’t be a challenge for him. 4. How do you figure we buy out a 10 year contract, hire an "elite coach"(That most of you want), pay them, and hand out enough money to recruits to compete in the transfer portal? I figure pretty easily. The guy previously took the worst LSU team ever and turned it into an SEC champion within 2-years.
As has been mentioned here before:
- Wade immediately injects excitement into fans and boosters, money will flow in due to season tickets, butts in seats and donations
-MM remainder can be paid out over 4 years. It is also offset by any income he makes if he were to take another job. According to the McMen, he is a coveted coach and schools will be lining up to hire him
-Grand scheme, it’s much more financially sound to have a more profitable program than waiting another year to save a couple million on a buyout, further tanking the program

Somehow I knew I’d get a deflection from you. First off Reed only became a top player when he got hurt simply because people like you can now use it as an excuse but the fact is Collins has been more productive in SEC play than Reed ever has. Secondly using Ward is just pathetic. McMahon is the reason he’s leaving and you same people who are now predictably using his absence were the ones saying the new signees were more talented and passed him up at the start of the season. You guys also hoop and holler every off season as the players are signed about how much talent he’s bringing in and what a great recruiter he is and just like every other year, as soon as the losing starts you start with the “muh no talent” BS. And finally the BS NIL nonsense which if you believe the numbers pushed by a certain someone has us falling right in the average of P4 teams who make the tourney’s NIL spending. So like I said all your points are make believe

Prime example of wish-casting.
You think Will Wade, who would have all the leverage, would take less money from a school that "bailed on him"

He turned around a program in the worst conference in the country. McMahon also had this kind of success at the mid major level with 30 win seasons.
You also failed to mention the most teams the SEC sent to the NCAAT in his tenure was 8. Will Wade went 18-15, and they failed to make the tournament. This year they are projecting 12 teams.

Deflection? I'm giving you a different perspective, all facts by the way.
This is wild to say. Reed didnt play 1 SEC game this year, but yet choose to use this year to prove your point about Collins. How well did Collins play last year in conference? Tf are you trying to argue lol
You talked to Ward? You know why he's leaving? Interesting take.
Losing Ward and his production didn't hurt? In what world do you live in? He obviously didnt want to come off the bench. He was our worst defender last year. I would take a healthy Miller over him any day. Seemed to be a Ward problem, and not a CMM one. Get back with me when he signs with Georgetown or something similar next year.
He has recruited well. Fact is, it's the youngest team in the SEC. You are relying on Freshman to carry us past the deepest SEC in the history of the conference without 2 of our best players. How many teams are doing this?
We have talent. We are clearly missing Miller and Reed. We are competing, not getting blown out for the most part. It sucks but I'm just giving you a different opinion. Don't get your panties in a twist.

We’re not the youngest team in the SEC and I find it hilarious but predictable that you continue to claim that you’re just providing facts when you’ve not only provided none but you argue with actual facts.

The athletic department cannot admit that they were wrong for firing Will Wade, so they're doubling down on Wade's replacement. This is insane. You don't have to replace McMahon with Wade. McMahon doesn't win games! Find someone who does! You shouldn't be under .250 in league play in year 3. Year 3 is the put up or ship out year, and McMahon proved he should have been sent packing at this time in Year ONE!!!
Posted on 3/4/25 at 3:55 pm to kingbob
Why does Mcloser need to be fired immediately, well let's see 1st year in the SEC 2-16, 2nd year in the SEC 9-9 3rd year in The SEC 3-13 soon to be 3 -15 that's 14-40 in the SEC in 3 years time to send Mcloser down the road he can't win!

Also at the rate we’re going he’s going to practically kill the program so when we do start over, which is inevitable, nobody worth a damn will come and it’ll be another cheap, crapshoot. You’re right, this is insane.

Laughably false.
But McMahon did put the fans in a shite position by not convincing anyone useful to stay and then putting together 3 awful teams. All the excitement Will Wade built has been destroyed by this loser and our pathetic administration.

He’s had 3 very different style rosters and failed with all 3. Year one was the core of his 30 win Murray team which is common with recent mid major hires in the SEC. He supplemented that with the 17th ranked class which included a 5 and a 4* recruit. That failed miserably. Year 2 he gets a bunch of vet transfers, some were highly rated recruits, 3 of them were very productive players previously. You had a nice, veteran offensive group who shot the ball well and that failed as well. Now year 3 all we heard all off season was how athletic and long this team was, that Carter and Sears would be huge gets, that Givens and Miller would be instant stars and again a total failure. So once again I’d ask, what does he need? Is it going to take a roster of 5* players which will never happen? Is it going to take 4-5 mid major All-Conference players? Just saying “we need more” is really saying nothing so what does he need?

To paraphrase a Marvel villain, John Brady put together a Sweet 16 team by year 3 in a cave, with a box of scraps. He did it with no transfer portal, NIL, and actual draconian sanctions. McMahon not having anybody when he came in is a viable excuse for one season because of modern rules or the lack thereof.

What’s worse is that every single player from the previous season that wasn’t graduating or headed to the NBA was still here when McMahon was hired. McMahon was hired on March 22, the portal didn’t open until the second week of April. The “he inherited an empty roster” narrative has always been false, he just couldn’t convince anybody to stay and play for him or he didn’t want most of the players to stay. Either way year 1 is on him.

The other really concerning thing is that McM is regressing. All the momentum he built last year is gone. At the end of last year, I stupidly thought McM had turned a corner and that brighter days were ahead.
Posted on 3/4/25 at 4:27 pm to Riverside
And he ruined last years chances as well. Imagine if he’d had Ward starting day 1 and wouldn’t have ruined things with Cook. That team would’ve won 11 SEC games or more and probably got into the Tourney but he has no clue so he self sabotaged his best chance.

Reed, Collins & Ward have all showed that they can have a good game occasionally. None of those three players have ever shown that they can be consistent.
LSU basketball needs a complete do over starting with getting a new coach and a new roster.

you are a miserable fk on here. Keep writing your 5 paragraphs per post, you narcissistic pos. No one types out so many words unless they are sure high on themselves.
You are literally too fkn stupid to understand today's game is much more about Jimmy and Joe, rather than x and o. But keep on melting and spewing your hatred over MM in every thread you enter. You are truly a pos.

When one can't defend the horrible job his coach is doing, one must resort to insults and profanity.
I predict that McMahon will still have a below 50% SEC record at the time he leaves or is fired from LSU. He should have stayed at Murray St. But he took the bag of cash Woodward threw at him. He will be rich and LSU basketball fans will be left wanting.
I sure hope that I am wrong, but l don't think that I am.
