Because Aranda makes some utterly dumbass calls sometimes.
Same reason we didn’t bring the house when we had them 3rd and 19 deep in their own territory and gave up 27 yards because Tua had like 5-6 seconds to throw.

And the drive before that was almost perfect. Yeah they scored, but needed two 4th down conversions and took a ton of time off the clock. Then next drive, boom one play. WTF.

We had safeties back there, not sure why they couldn't help. And man would have been OK if Stingley backed off 5 or 6 yards.

Obviously wanted to make it hard on them and take away the sidelines I assume.
But when you let them run past you on a go route it does not work.
Given we were up by two scores with around 1:21 left should have played more of a prevent. Then again these Bama receivers catching the ball in space can run right through you after the catch.

Nah. Not up 12 with 1:21 left. You drop 7 into coverage with 2-3 deep and make them go 7-10 yards a pop. This is fundamental defense. No excuse for being in man, much less press coverage.

If we were doing man. We shoulda been in cover 3 man under. With all three safeties 40 yards back. CBS at least 20 yards back. If zone prevent we shoulda rushed 3 and dropped 8 deep. Make them eat clock and try to tackle in bounds. Keep it in front. Nobody gets behind you.

Delpit has to get deep quick in that situation regardless. He was also unable to help on the Stingley trick okay because he wasn't deep enough for his angle.
