re: Why are we assuming it is LSU students who are the ones involved in the shootings, etc?

Prove it wrong…it’s obvious who the narrow minded one is here. You might want to take the blindfold off.

It used to be (for the most part), the only people on campus on game day were people attending the game.

In the late 90’s/early 2000’s, LSU’s campus became the 3rd largest city in the state as more than 250,000 people congregated to tailgate and enjoy the atmosphere.

You did say the problem has been going on for a long time, I guess you mean nearly 3 decades?

The problem is that housing that used to be nearly exclusively student housing (Tigerland, immediately north of campus at the North Gates, the 2 apartment complexes along Burbank (formerly the Commons and the Crescent)) have turned to the section 8 program to fill vacancies and get a guaranteed source of income.

This has resulted in an influx of people that live a slum lifestyle replete with crime, drugs, and general civilly unacceptable behavior.

At this point, I'm not going to allow my daughters to go to LSU in a few years. I guess LSU doesn't want very well qualified private school graduates with enough extra curriculars to fill a whole week bringing up the prestige of their in-state school. I'll just send them out of state like I wanted.

My girls went to TCU and Arkansas. Told them to never look back and don’t plan to come back once you graduate. Tate’s lip service about keeping the best and brightest at LSU was just that. Lip service.

Arkansas gives up to 90% out of state tuition waiver based strictly upon GPA. They want LAs best and brightest and are starting to get them.

This is pretty obvious. It’s not students. Come stand on the corner of highland and state around 6/7pm on home games. You’ll see.

The drug usage was every where we park near the Baseball Stadium on Skip Bertman and there would multiple folks acting a fool with drugs. It was not that way 5-6 years ago but it has become an increasingly bad problem that needs to be handled.

"Arkansas gives up to 90% out of state tuition waiver based strictly upon GPA."

This is a great tool. A tool that has to get buy in from everyone on the board. Tate didn't have that. You and I both know that.

"Tate’s lip service about keeping the best and brightest at LSU was just that. Lip service."

The facts say different. Our admissions, retention, caliber of student, and graduation rates are all staring at your comments saying WTF. We are fine without your tuition dollars. God speed to your daughters in their endeavors, but this is like saying we have to win every recruiting battle. Some get away.

I was out there Sat.

It was the worst I have seen on campus and I have been going since the 70's. Culcha was walking around in large groups...........and it looked bad.

THEN........over near the Union at around 2pm.....I saw a fine future "doctor" riding on the hood of a Dodge Charger twerking! Yes on top of the car.

I know I am an old guy............but that type of crap has never shown up on Gameday.

My daughter is a soph at LSU........she heard its being coming to party that arent even students. No clue if this is true or not.

It was around 5:15-5:30. We had just left the coliseum heading to the stadium and got caught up in the people scattering away from the grounds on the corner of stadium and highland.

If anyone is out there like I was you know right away those fools weren’t LSU students. The hundreds gathered at Highland and S Stadium smoking weed at 6 pm were not students.

Game day experience is very different from when I was there in the early 2000s.

And it’s not getting better.

Just wait another 10 years and the culture will have completely taken over.

My daughter is at Arkansas and it is a great campus and college town (like BR used to be). Will send my son there too. Don’t want them anywhere near the LSU campus with all the crime.

As another poster stated, with good grades you can get up to 90% of the out of state tuition covered.
