What’s his best finish in the West?

I'm waiting to see what LSU looks like when the SEC isn't a dumpster fire. Best team in the SEC got ran out of the stadium by Clemson last season
The SEC finished with:
#2 Bama
#6 LSU
#7 Florida
#8 Georgia
#12 Kentucky
#16 A&M
#25 Miss St
The Big XII was the only team with 2 teams top 10 and the SEC had 4. So how was the SEC a dumpster fire?

By recruiting well, not beating Bama, and not winning championships? Les was doing that.
My expectation was an upgrade, not maintenance of mediocrity. I'll call it an upgrade when he wins something of significance.

Not necessarily a response to you, Black.
People need to separate a few things when trying to grade O, and grade O as compared to Les.
-the actual hiring process, and hire of O was an absolute joke. Not sure how anyone can argue with this,
-O has taken a relatively stale program, and injected some life. There is no doubt that the program is trending in the right way.
As for the people that “expect” championships....
-i am a LSU fan. No matter what. The reason anyone is a fan, is to see their team win championships. Period. However......
-LSU hit a “low” of what, 8 or 9 wins?? Go look at Florida, or Nebraska, or even bama. How did they do during a program downturn?? This is NOT an acceptance of 8 or 9 wins, but a realization that the low is not bad at all.
-on a personal note, I am curious as to the “championships” some of you clowns have won in your illustrious careers? Not saying you have to be #1, to expect someone else to be #1, but I am curious how many people on this board realize how hard it is to finish #1?

Recruiting is smoking but Les won a national title and made another title game. O needs to make the playoff
Posted on 4/30/19 at 7:47 am to bencoleman
Post the composite 247 rankings of Miles’ last five classes and O’s first three classes and tell me that O is recruiting better than Miles.

Les was stale and plateaued. O just keeps ascending
We had a worse conference record last season than in 2017. That's not tangibly ascending towards championships.
The Fiesta Bowl and final ranking were fun, and Orgeron has made some nice moves this offseason, but we're still on the same plateau until actual results on the field improve.

Exactly. Objectively O hasn’t done shite to improve what Les built. This year will be telling. It feels like it’s trending in the right direction, but that remains to be seen IMO

The same number of championships that O has won as a head coach.

Why does it have to be a Les vs O contest? O is really picking it up on the recruiting trail and seems to have made some good hires even though we really don't know about the last part yet. I want Coach O to be as successful as possible and it would be awesome to see his teams start to dominate. I think this year should be special for him and a lot of his detractors will be shut down. But as of now i can't say he is an upgrade over Miles, he simply hasn't accomplished close to what Les did but That could happen soon and I hope it does. Yall act like saying he isn't upgrade on Miles is some kind of put down. Miles was one of the most successful coaches of his era, he just got stubborn and stale as he got older but that doesn't change the fact that very few coaches anywhere in college won as much as he did. It doesn't need to be one or the other. We can appreciate Les while being excited about O. To act like to you have to pick sides is childish.

Orgeron was a clear upgrade from the 2015/16 Les Miles. Unfortunately Miles had run his course and recruiting had really run down. LSU had become a school QBs shunned. And Chavis did not recruit and we lost our offensive line recruiting way.
None of this matters. We have a new coaching staff and finally built up analysts. And with Brady we have an offensive mind set that is attractive. Again if we don’t get Burrow I do not think any of this happens. This is not to,say Burrow is the best QB ever.. Burrow proved to be an above average SEC QB who won two big games early and put us back on the national:map. Does anyone think we beat Miami and Auburn with Justin MacMillan and Brennan. Then we beat Georgia and really shocked the college football media.
Anyway that is all the past. Can our Oline improve enough for us to,beat Texas and then Bama.

His ability to get top recruits was never in question, like Les. He just needs that to translate into wins, beating alabama and championships.
