mostly statistical analysis, like judging athleticism for the most part

See, this just goes straight to how much BS you're running when you say you want discussion. You don't. You want to "win". I'm not sure what you will win or even that we were competing.
I agree. Tyson is an awesome athlete as well. So were Bowe and Clayton. How is this losing? I'm pretty stoked we get awesome athletes. And make no mistake, LSU gets some of the very best athletes in the country.

how do you measure "quick" ?
quote:
strong (18-20+ reps of 225)
who came up with 225?
quote:
sub 4.4 at 225+
so this "freak" has to weigh more than 225?
quote:
vertical over 35"
ok...
quote:
broad over 10-0
ok...
so in conclusion, there are none that exist.
care to name any other freaks from other schools that meet these reqs?
SC - Taylor Mays.

i don't know this has ever been established

That's why this whole thread is silly.

webster failed at one and was moved to another
DD and Faulk are PR guys who had a more defined other position
and we have physical measurements of all 3 guys and none would be "freaks" to me

Playing running back, punt returner, kick returner, and defensive back.

In 1972, Casanova was drafted in Round 2, pick 29 by the Cincinnati Bengals. He played safety for the Bengals from 1972 to 1977, being selected to the Pro Bowl in 1974, 1975, 1976, and 1977. Known as a faster than average, hard-hitting free safety, Casanova also collected 17 career interceptions, in what is considered a short career.

In the September 13, 1971 issue of Sports Illustrated, the magazine featured Casanova on the front cover, with the headline: "Tommy Casanova of LSU, Best Player in the Nation."
You could make a list, Stovall, Cannon, Taylor, Casanova, Kinchen and a bunch more would be on it.

you can be a good football player without being a great athlete

This is the perfect synopsis for every SFP thread ever posted on the Rant.
Can't see why more posters don't realize this.

you need to be a good athlete to play football
Can you be a great player and not be a great athlete? Can you be a great athlete and a mediocre player? Or can only good athletes be mediocre players? How about mediocre athletes? Can they be mediocre players, too, or can they only be good players? And what kind of players are the good athletes? Mediocre?

I started out in this thread with some hope that it would be interesting, but ended up being more confused than ever.

I agree Tyson is more explosive, but Spears was a great basketball player.

just know that Steven Korte is the freakiest athlete to ever play at LSU

I don't have any measurables, so I'm not sure that I can debate it in any way, but Michael Brooks would fall into my freak category, in a Lawrence Taylor kind of way.
I also witnessed Oliver Lawrence pull from the TE position on multiple designed plays in high school. Unfortunately got to see it first hand in the playoffs from the opposite sideline.
He was an All-State TE,DE, too. Nice guy, had some classes with him later at LSU.
