re: Who should pitch tonight against Creighton?

It would also be nice if our first 3 outs weren't hit over 100+ right at somebody.
Over the past week or so, we've had a phenomenal combination of our own poor play, web gems by the other team, bad batted ball luck (to your point), one game of absolute shite HP umpiring, reliever blow ups, mid week starter implosions.
Pretty much anything that could have gone wrong went wrong.
But it's maddening when we hit one 108 off the bat right to a fielder and they squib one 65 MPH through the infield for 2 RBIs.

I’d give Rizy or Fontenot the start and see how they handle it. Both have a ton of upside and I don’t think either have started this year. Rizy has control problems but I’d like to see how he handles a start versus coming out the pen. Williams and Paz blew up after 1 inning in their last start so I wouldn’t put that pressure on them this week. Noot needs some BP work after this pst weekend.

Williams' blowup was part crappy defensive play. Albeit he did have the error on the pickoff throw too. But I do believe if he can get his confidence, he could be a good lefty arm to come out and start midweeks or even relief on the weekend.

As you know, this sport is the most anomalous that exists.
I've accepted the level of frustration following this team this early mostly b/c the high school team I've followed closely presently has 1 proven bat in the lineup wasting some good mound talent.
LSU's lineup is due a progression to the mean. I'm gonna try to catch it in person tonight. I'll be there either way.

Start- Cowan
I would really like to see them put Williams in with runners on base and see how he responds. He seems to pitch better when he starts an inning rather than coming in with runners on. We need him to be able to put out fires.
Other than that I would like to see more out of guys like Paz, Ricken, Garcia, Zion, Fontenot.

We were so fired up for this kid. He’s gotten what 1 inning all season?

Guy was money most of '25. Lost it late then channeled his inner Caleb Gilbert in Omaha vs Arky.
So much potential on this staff. Lot of growing pains now though.

Yeah, I think he's had 2 or 3 appearances, but around 1 inning total.
In the fall, the talk was that he had the potential to be groomed as a starter. You would think that would mean he could stretch out if needed. Garcia was talked about that way as well (nationally, not as much locally). And Plog started 11 games in JUCO last year.
So we're set up with lefties that can potentially extend and get both RHH and LHH out.
Right now we just need one besides Plog to step up and grab the matchup opportunities. I think that's Garcia, but Lachenmayer could use some more chances.

I’d be fine with starting any of Cowan, Ricken, Noot, Rizy, or Williams. Then letting some of the others on your list try to get an inning and build some confidence.
I believe in them.
C’mon tigers

Noot, Rizy, and Cooper Williams are the 3 I want to see pitch. Want to see Cooper get out of the yips because he would be needed down the stretch and no better time than to just pitch him during midweeks for the short term future.

I would give an inning to all of the following (in no particular order):
Noot
Rizy
Ricken
Paz
Garcia
Lachenmayer
Williams
Benge
Fontenot
I don't disagree with giving an inning to each of those.

I'm different than most in that I wouldn't mind throwing Primeaux in an SEC game regardless of if he throws tonight
I find it somewhat curious as to how Primeaux went from being among the team leaders in appearances last year on a better pitching staff to only having pitched to 6 batters through 17 games this year. His last outing was against Northeastern and he went 1 inning, struck out 2 and only allowed 1 base runner last Monday. He didn't pitch at all against Milwaukee or in Jacksonville. His only other appearance was in the midweek against Kent St

Maybe it's a low-ceiling, know-what-you-have thing?
He's a LHH match up guy, but I know there is some trepidation because he hits 50% of the guys he faces.
He's still one of my favorites though.

I kinda think Jay is about done with Benge. He got pretty fed up with him last year and we never saw him again. This year hasn't gone well either. I could see Jay moving on. Fontenot's release for his breaking ball is too obvious. I don't think he will ever do too much in the SEC until that's fixed. Rizy needs so much work that I would guess he pitches twice per week for the next month. Noot needs more innings. I know Cowans last outing didn't go great but his change up actually was looking pretty good again. The freshmen need some innings too but idk if today is the day for it

No, no he didn't. Primeaux does not need to see the mound ever again.

May only be a seven inning game.

Because LSU recent success suggests otherwise right?

Ricken or Theophilus. Of the freshmen these seem to have the best control.
I think we will need them to step in this season. The bullpen has been inconsistent, but the talent is there. Same with hitting.
