Mainly the late 1960's when I was a wee lad. Somebody in this thread said they saw Steppenwolf and Grand Funk Railroad there in the late 60's.

remember ZZ Top playing there regularly.

went outside and found Chuck Berry, who was also performing at the club
This entire thread is proof that the late 1960s and early 1970s was the greatest period in history to be a young person … providing you didn’t end up in Vietnam of course

I have a picture of my kids outside that building around the mid 2000's. I need to find it and post it. It was abandoned at that time and I remember it was painted purple and gold.
I was at LSU from 1984 to 1989 and I have zero recollection of what was there at the time.

I lived in those old apartments in 2001-02 that had a nice as hell pool and goldfish pond inside. But as for that building it was just a run down building then.

It was called the Speakeasy. Club/ bar room setting. My father in law stopped by there to grab a beer on the way home from work and had a heart attack in his car and died in the parking lot. Found him the next morning. He loved his whiskey and I guess he finally had one too many. Good man.

The late '70's and early '80's weren't too bad. Baton Rouge had an awesome live music scene in those days with different parts of town featuring different genres of music.

At LSU from '68 to '74. And yes those were the days! The thread mentions a few local bands, one more favorite was the Copas Bros. Steve Stills opened the PMAC, followed by Jethro Tull but the apex was Pink Floyd a couple of years later. And 2am, no problem, the Country Place on Hwy 30 open all night.
And since this is a sports board, yeah,we had Pistol Pete and Bert Jones vs Archie Manning! Good days indeed!

I remember when it was the Baton Rouge Mint.
That would have been a good way to finance NIL.
