Somewhat off topic, but it's honestly funny these days that LSU fans once made fun of AD's brow. Other fanbases of course were doing it, but if only the Pels weren't so terrible. Good times though.

I remember being at the game at the end of the season (1980, I believe) and I believe the winner was going to win the SEC regular season championship. He hit a last second jumper from the top of the key to beat us.

Never liked him for that, but the guy could shoot the rock.

That was actually the final game of the '81 regular season and cost LSU the honor of being the first to sweep the 18 game schedule. The Tigers were still easily the SEC champs, albeit 17-1 instead of 18-0. Went on to the final 4 from there.

Kyle Macy, Dirk Minniefield and Sam Bowie. Joe B. Hall is still alive at 86. It was exciting basketball then.

I was there...witnessed all the abuse Macy got and also when Jim Master(bate) was playing for KY back then...remember the almost fight between Daddy Dale and Rick Petino at half court after the altercation between Maurice Williamson and a Ky Player.... man, those were the days!...

Virtually the only shot he made all game. It was like their super bowl to keep us from going undefeated.

I was at a couple of those games back in the day. My pop was a Navy kid who moved around alot. They landed in Louisiana when he was a senior in HS and he stayed here. Grandparents from KY and he was born in KY. Alway a UK bball fan & he took us to the games a few times. I was 5 in 1980. I remember Roger Harden hitting a long shot for UK to win in Pmac after that Macy game I think. The fans dished some abuse to my old man for wearing blue!! I remember him getting pissed lol! Mike came rappelling down from the ceiling...it was awesome to see as a kid. Place was packed and rowdy.

I think it was around 1984 or 85, he invited all his friends/neighbors that were LSU fans over for big party when they played in the NCAA tournament. It was the year they had Kenny Sky Walker. My old man dressed in a tiger suit w/ a cast, cruches, etc. and went around inviting all his friends to the party. Some of them sprayed him w/ a hose. Then he wore the suit all night at our house. Hilarious. LSU beat them to go to the final 4 (Reddon, Blanton, etc.). h a ha!! My old man didn't talk to us for a week. He used to throw furniture around & cuss up a storm when they lost. Then the neighbors wrapped our house w/ purple & gold streamers. Since then, all three of his kids went to LSU and he is an LSU football fan, but when it comes to Bball, he is 100% UK. Pretty funny... I remember people yelling, "Sit the F down" at pmac back in the day.

I was there. It seemed like a half court shot. I waited in line half way around the pmac in the cold drizzle.
That season was the first time I heard WHO DAT SAY THEY GONNA BEAT THOSE TIGERS. It was coming from the a section full of African Americans. I actually went up and asked one what they were chanting.

I went to all the games at LSU back then. If memory serves me correctly. A screen was set at the top of the key. Willie Sims tried to get a hand in his face, but the sucker nailed the shoot like he had been doing it all his life. Ripped my heart out at the time.

First LSU basketball game was Kentucky in '83. Hi-C's last home game I believe. Ky was (still) loaded that year.

Growing up as a young kid in the late 70's, LSU BB was #1 and UK basketball was #2. Kyle Macy was the guy. Every backyard FT or jumpshot or layup was against UK and Macy.

Fun times.

Yes I remember that game. LSU had won at UK by 7 I think. As I recall, LSU won in the SEC tournament as well. Scales...the astronaut. Macey's shot hurt at the time. I think LSU lost 3 games that year.
