I remember the mascot dropping from the ceiling and the light meter for noise in the Deaf Dome. And it was awesome when the entire student section had the papers and were chanting when the opposing line up was announced, only to be crumpled and thrown before LSU was announced.

and I'm pretty sure somewhere on the other side of the arena was some old fart saying they cheered louder in his day.

Coach Brown had a lot to do with all of the hype from the students. He used to get together with teachers, counselors and the student president and talk about ways to get students more involved . It was big time fun. Kids now a days to busy getting pun tang . Winning cures all though. And

I was there for Chris Jackson and Shaq. I remember waiting in line —- I remember LSU playing Russia and we got T-shirt’s. (Why the heck did I get rid of that??). I remember playing UNLV and dick vital hanging around he studentt section. I remember so many good times as a student in the PMAC.

There have been some great Dunks seen in the AC/PMAC by various LSU basketball players over the years, but none quite like those slammed in by Dwayne "Astronaut" Scales
agreed! Scales was one of the most exciting players we've had here (but still fairly anonymous).

The energy in the dome during the last 70s/early 80s was unbelievable. Deafening crowd noise. I miss that.

A few students bring the newspapers. They don’t throw them on the court. Also I think throwing them on the court is a technical. Happened at a usm game back in the 80s early 90s can’t remember

I'm not nearly old enough. But I know a guy who dated a woman who slept with Shaq when they were in college. Does that count?

'79-'80 and '80-'81 Student Sections were the original "Who Dats" - before the Saints fans picked it up.

ETA - For those who don't know how it worked, when the opposing team was announced, everyone would unfold the paper and hold it up, acting like they were reading it instead of paying attention to the other team. Then when they were done announcing the other team, everyone would wad up their paper and throw it on the court. This happened every game...

best use of the daily reveille

Lunatic or in the band for every game 82-83 and most of 84

Ah, we'd get blasted for it now but it was a blast throwing tennis balls at Florida's Dwayne Schintzius (RIP).

For those of you who remember, he was always in trouble and had just assaulted another student with a tennis racket. Vanderbilt followed suit and actually had a technical foul that cost them a game for throwing so many tennis balls. We got lucky.

.
When we threw newspapers on the court back in 1909, the wind would blow them in the grass.

And we stood for the entire game too... but then again, I don't remember any seats.

Fun times!
