Anyone have some good insight into what we will expect from Clemson week 1?

I met a Clemson booster, who is also friends with Dabo, at a birthday party a few weeks ago. He’s not very confident about this upcoming season. He's so pessimistic about it that he’s not making the trip down to BR which, he said, he would normally make. That’s all the insight that I have.

I have a good friend that’s nephew is on the team. He’s saying they’ll be pretty good but he’s personally not looking forward to the Baton Rouge game. He said that’s gonna be a once in a lifetime trip to see Kiffin’s debut and knows the lights will be shining bright. He just hopes they show up for that game. In other words he’s worried.

Saw a recent interview of Dabo and the guy is living in the past. Spouting off past accolades, half of which were false. Dude is done and I really think he “retires” at the end of the year. He just can’t seem to adjust to the change in college football and like I told my dad when it happened losing Brent veneables was a huge loss to that program.

They get really mad when you call their school “Clem’s son”
That’s all I got

More like “Clemzon” is what they hate. Supposedly it supposed sounds like “Clempson” according to their fanbase

I wouldn't bet money on Holier than Dabo getting the ship turned around.

As was the money laundering through New Spring Church.

I see a few places they got worse and almost none where they got better.
Chad Morris was unemployed last year. He hasn’t been a college OC since 2020.
Vizzina has 0 track record. 40% of his career passes were in a loss against SMU last year and they had the 135 ranked passing defense.
They lost a 1st round tackle, 2 DL in the top 35 picks and their QB.
Their DL was probably their strength last year in defense and that’s mostly gone.
It seems more likely they are worse this year than last.

Idk if anyone actually believes that Chad Morris can fix the offensive issues but outside of Clemson I'm not sure anyone is confident in what Clemson is doing. Now that makes me nervous but I just find it difficult to realistically think that their team is going to be better....now I have been wrong before but this just doesn't seem like that turnaround team.

He's been there a long time and like Spurrier said 12-15 years is a long time at one school. He brought Clemson out of the dark ages, but I believe this will be his last year.

Venables carried Dabo even through his big years in Clemson. Since he left, they've been downhill. Between Venables and NIL Dabo is done after this season. He needed an all-time assistant like Venables. He's very similar to Les Miles. Only as good as your assistants and couldn't adjust to changes in NCAA. Dabo is Clemson's problem. When he's gone maybe they do something again.

He hired Chad Morris as his OC. Enough said. Dabo has clearly lost the edge like Cougar.

I work with a Clemson guy and he is not very confident about winning in BR

I was at the natty in 2019 and honestly, I liked Clemson fans more than any fanbase I've dealt with in the SEC.
Sure, some of them think they're the real Death Valley, but everyone with common sense knows that was put to bed in 2019 and again in 2025.

Definitely true. No Venables makes them really vunnable.

Everyone’s shitting on Morris but there was a time on this board that some people wanted him at LSU as HC

LSU was football's original Death Valley, dating back to 1958.
What's not so widely known is that Clemson's iconic fight song, "Hold That Tiger", was the primary school fight song for the LSU Tigers at least 15 years before Clemson first played it. It remains the favorite at LSU today-- Tiger Rag/Hold That Tiger, and its famous four-note opening motif let's you know it's on, baby.

Clemson is going to show up ready to play, the same as they did last year.

really hope I don't end up with egg on my face, but outside of game 1 jitters for our very newly pieced together team, we are head and shoulders better than them.
Vizzina is a slight step up from Klubnik in my opinion. Better passer, much less mobility. He actually played pretty decently in his 1 start against SMU. He was a little timid in the first half as most 1st time starters are, but kind of found his rhythm in the 2nd half. Made several really nice throws. They lost that game because of a very slow start and a total lack of a running game. Dabo would have been wise to just stick with him the rest of the year considering they were 3-4 and the season was lost. Instead, Vizzina will come into Death Valley with zero road experience.
Their running game was fricking awful last year. I'd assume it was around the very bottom of the P4. I don't see how that will improve with the same guy at RB, a much less mobile QB, and no signs of improvement on the OL. I believe they lost the majority of their OL from last year, which is maybe a reason for optimism, because it did not get much worse than those guys a year ago.
They were all in all very poorly coached last year, which is a great reason for pessimism from Clemson fans as you will see if you visit their boards or talk to their fans. I do think that Dabo will come in swinging, but I just don't think they are the Clemson of 5-10 years ago that was worth worrying about. If LSU doesn't hand them the game, we will win.
