Call it in?

I’m going with Bham contacting one of the corrupt umps to pull this off. Team effort.

Not corrupt, just poor judgment.

Was any of this clarified?

If the home plate ump calls him out, and it is not something you can review, how was this overturned? Which ump decided this?

I'm sticking with my original belief. A buddy in Bham realized it could be used, then buzzed one of the four stooges they use to alter outcomes on the field and told him what to call. Like a good stooge, he did. Then, just like in football, they could hide behind "judgement call".

Did Birmingham radio in the call after the ump made the call?
May be why it took so long.

you know baseball umps don't wear ear pieces, right?
and the umps never left the field.

so how exactly did they "tell him what to call"?

home plate ump's left ear (no ear piece)

home plate umps right ear (no ear piece)

I’ve posted this in several threads but the SC Coach said after the game it was designed and was hoping for that call

No corruption, just an overzealous crew wanting to make it all about themselves at a key point in the game.

I went back and read the interview and it does sound like they knew this could be a possible outcome and tried to orchestrate this very situation to get a run. I am SO glad Milam dropped the hammer and kept SC from winning by shenanigans.

The only conspiracy is incompetence. Play happened and inning over. SC coach gives ump an earful, ump bought it and changed the call. Then tells Jay he can’t challenge or review a judgement call. And that’s the bullshite angle. SC coach “challenged” the call enough to get the ump to change it, then frick you lsu.

Not to mention the call was just plain wrong. I think the field crew got duped, and when they did call to the booth they were told they couldn’t change it as it was a judgement. Thus here we were. It was chicken shite to toss Jay in the first place.
