The reason why a lot of people want to be ranked a little lower is because there is not as much pressure when you are ranked 10 as there is when you are ranked 1. When a team is ranked #1, there is a HUGE target on it's back. The pressure makes it easier for a huge frick up and actually blow some things out of proportion. When you are ranked at #10, well then over the course of the season you are constantly trying to get to number 1. You actually have something to earn. It's easier to have a winning season coming from behind than it is when you're already at the top.

true. but a great champion can take everyone's best shot, trying to knock them off the top spot, keep on winning and end the season as undefeated champs. what's wrong with that? besides me being young.

Absolutely nothing wrong with that. If we go in ranked number 1 then I say lets beat all the MF'ers who are trying to knock us off. I just feel that there is less pressure when trying to come from behind.
No team thinks that way but it's true. There's a lot of pressure being in that number 1 spot....and we aren't very successful when we are ranked #1.

We are fickle fans and that shouldn't be news to anyone.
We had loss to both Bama and Fla for two seasons in a row and although I saw no reason to get into my cliff jumping mode just yet, I was a little concerned and more than a little ready for Miles/LSU to put to rest, for a tad at least, the "we will never beat Bama/Fla" and "LSU football is in a decline" BS.

It's not like we start the season #1 all the time. I'd rather start at the top, play it out and see what happens.

Well what I was mostly referring to was what happened in 2007. We were ranked #1 two separate times in the season and lost twice, but yeah I see your point. It would be awesome to be #1 preseason and fight it out.

People will come on here and complain no matter what. I don't care if we go 14-0 and win the NC. People will still be on here bitching about something. And if there's ONE LOSS, the boat is sunk to some.
