It’s Dylan Crews and there isn’t much of a debate anymore.

I know it’s Crews.
Skenes
Walker
McDonald
The order is up for debate.
After that whoever you want to say, but they’re not better than those 4.

If Bill Franques says it’s Dylan Crews then it’s Dylan Crews.

For a season gotta go with skenes. For a career it’s between Ben mcd and crews.

I personally have a hard time knocking Todd Walker off the pedestal. Dylan Crews makes it very, very close.
TW hit .393, .395, .400

3-time 1st team all SEC

33 game hitting streak (sec record at the time)
SEC leader at the time in hits (310), RBI (246), runs (234), and Tb’s (557)

Crews
Walker
Furniss
McDonald
Skenes
Crews passed Todd up after this season. Furniss and Ben could be 3a and 3b. I can't leave Skenes off, even if it was just a season here.
ETA: Skenes and Crews are probably 1-2, no particular order, if we rank based purely on talent. Bregman (and others) also come into the convo there.

Dylan plays defense at a high level. I don’t remember Todd being that good defensively. Best all around player for me is Dylan.

Now follow it with a list of Crew's accomplishments and you won't say...

Anybody who says it's not Crews just wants to be edgy and think it's too soon to go with him. The book on Crews is closed, his LSU legacy will never change. Where it stands today, he's the best to ever play at LSU.

I am record with Todd Walker being the tGOAT prior to this season, but Crews is #1 now IMO. It takes a lot for some to give him that distinction considering how great Todd was.

I hope I’m still alive 25-30 years from now to see you trying to explain how great the players from the 2010s and 2020s were.

There’s no objective argument that Crews isn’t the best ever. Accomplishments, stats, and ring, it’s a slam dunk.
You can even throw things like going through a coaching change, having Covid halt his last year of HS, and playing in the best era of SEC baseball that only boosts his case

I don't disagree. There is nostalgia with Walker, etc., but it's pretty clear for me. I got Crews #1.

I think in terms of talent and production, Crews.
That's no slight on Walker, but Crews is one of those rare cases where a top-prospect out of high school surpassed his lofty expectations that led to personal and team success.

Really don't know enough about baseball to have much of an opinion, and I certainly have no idea how to weigh pitchers against position players, so I'd have to rate them separately.
1) Crews -- I can't think of anything I ever saw Walker do that I didn't see Crews do, and most of the people I know who do know baseball seem in pretty solid consensus that it's Crews over Walker.
2) Walker -- because . . . Todd f'ing Walker.
3) Hmmm, gets really tough here. Probably Furniss, but maybe Bregman? Furniss wasn't the defensive force Bregman was, but defense wasn't exactly the key to the game back then.
Special mention for one year: Brandon Larson -- never seen anyone pound a ball all year long like he did that season. Unreal.
Pitchers:
1) Skenes -- watched Big Ben, watched Byrd, watched Nola, watched a bunch of others; never saw anyone do what Skenes did.
2) Big Ben -- partially due to dominance, but also partially due to impact. He was huge star when LSU really needed to have some stars.
3) Probably Byrd? There's been a lot of great ones though. And I might be flat out forgetting even more.
No need for a special one year award; Skenes did it all in one season.

I’ll go
1. Dylan Crews
2. Todd Walker
3. Ben McDonald
4. Eddie Furniss
Skenes had the single best season ever with Brandon Larson a very close second.

Too many people forget how good Furniss was at LSU.
Furniss finished his career as the SEC’s all-time leader in hits (349), home runs (80), RBI (309), doubles, (87) and total bases (689).
.371 career BA in 4 seasons and 3-time All-American (twice first team) is no joke.
