that 2023 post season was the thing of legend. Florida, wake forrest, Tennessee. 2025 final series was kind of a let down with CCU, all things considered. Especially compared to 2023

Looks like someone came on here to intentionally start a heated argument. The fuq is wrong with you?
Posted on 2/23/26 at 7:35 pm to Tammany Tom
Exactly. It’s idiotic and it’s just someone wanted to start an argument and rile up a fanbase. A true LSU fan would never come on this board and claim that over our last two national championship teams.

Jay Johnson has made it clear that he views the regular season as a proving ground to prepare his team for the postseason. He experiments and makes decisions with an eye toward improving the team down the road, not to maximize regular season wins. You cannot judge either the 2023 or 2025 teams based upon regular results. You have to look to postseason performance.

The team that had Skenes! Pretty simple! The 25 team is 2nd because their pitching and defense was incredible. 25 team had arguably the best defense in our history. Best fielding percentage LSU ever had.

Hard to say. I’m not a big fan of these year to year comparisons because the game is changing every year. But I would put no stock in winning the SEC and SEC tournament. Jay doesn’t try to.

Take out Cruz and Skenes I think 2023 still wins a 3 game series. They just had so much fire power on both sides of the ball.
Take out the whole outfield and we’d have still beaten them with six position players.
Hell, Tre Morgan could have beaten them by himself!

2023 is maybe the best college baseball team ever
The way they played in the CWS? Sure. But a lot of posters are forgetting how suspect that pitching staff was going into the CWS. The feeling on this board was that the only path to the championship was through the winners’ bracket.
The 2025 LSU team had two of the top three pitchers in the nation. Then they had Shores, Cowan and Evans. That was a lot of reliable, good pitching. But fans like hitting, so 2023 will get the nod.The truth is that it would depend on the day, the weather, who has a cold, and who broke up with their girlfriend because it would be close.

He’s a troll. Make no mistake, he’s a damn retard, too. But he’s a troll. And one of the worst kinds, a post-and-run troll. Starts a retarded thread, may reply early on the 1st page, then ghosts. I can’t imagine the type of pathetic lose that gets his kicks out of doing this. On multiple boards.
But to the OP, since the troll has lured me in, it’s LSU ‘23 clearly at 1. But I’ll be honest, it’s a testament to Tony V and what he had going on UT that most of those teams run together for me.
Their ‘23 team stands out a bit because they at least made it to Omaha and won a game sandwiched between 2 relatively close losses to us, but their ‘22 team is still probably their best team and maybe the best team in college baseball history. They went 53-7 in the regular season and absolutely destroyed the SEC going 25-5, finishing 10 games ahead of Florida in the East and 6 games ahead of overall 2nd place A&M. Just a lineup full of juiced up bomb droppers and a staff that seemed to have an endless supply of dudes coming in throwing 100. And Dollander was better that year than he was in ‘23. How they lost to Notre Dame at home in the Supers is still baffling. But they did, and a team that basically went wire to wire before Omaha as #1 wound up finishing #9. But it was still their best team, if obviously, not their most accomplished.
I bring that up to say that I’m not sure their ‘24 championship team wasn’t their 2nd or 3rd best team during that run. They did win 60 games, became the 1st #1 and overall seed to win it, and set a bunch of records, but the SEC was relatively down that year. At least at the top. They tied with Kentucky at 22-8, Arkansas was 3rd at 20-10, A&M was 19-11, Georgia and Misssissippi State were both 17-13, and those were the only 6 teams with winning records in league play. Then 5 teams finished 13-17. And only 5 teams finished with less than 23 overall losses.
Always hard to know if that means the SEC was just really good and balanced top to bottom or if it was a weak year and Tennessee just took advantage and beat up on a down league. They will obviously go down as one of the all-time great teams—and rightfully so—but I think the SEC and the rest of college baseball was so just so much better in ‘23 that’s it’s impossible to know which of those UT teams were actually better. I will defer to Project’s expertise on ranking those teams.
But that wasn’t the question in the OP. We’re comparing CWS Champions. And I think it’s pretty clearly:
2023 LSU
2024 UT
2025 LSU

2013. Best LSU team of all time, which mysteriously went out quietly in two games at the CWS. That team was LODED!

Please. I can only get so erect!
That was a great game vs Wake. Every pitch mattered.

Basketball, because in the history of LSU, it is the first time we won a national championship.

I spent 12 days in Omaha, for the 2023 NC. I thought that was one of the better mixture of teams assembled. As for LSU Baseball, I attended game way before Skip was there.
Once Skip got there, didn’t take long to figure, he knew what he was doing. Much of the same with Jay.
