I was a huge Dunn guy for a while but can we name pitchers who actually got really better under him?
Quite a few when he first got here... but the last few years have seen more arm soreness than progression.

He was here for one year. But good try.

He’s a metrosexual and his style has made this team metrosexual. Skinny jeans metrosexual.

He’s been pretty consistently making bad decisions all year. At the beginning of the year it was played off as trying test the players. But it hasn’t stopped.
Project, clearly we are outmanned. Not by tennessee but by State and Vandy.

LSU just isn’t a fundamentally sound team. They have always been bad at base running under PM except the one year with Cannizzaro. Their hitting approach is usually lacking as well. They always seem to take good pitches early in the count and then swing at garbage no where near the plate.
Teams have proven time and time again that if you just put the ball in play against LSU you’ll do damage. The fielding percentage never looks terrible but it’s the borderline plays that LSU doesn’t make and other teams do. It was a tough play but the pop up that Crews couldn’t catch changed this game around. Vanderbilt really didn’t have many hard hit sure base hits off Marceaux but the box score looks like he was throwing batting practice. To me, LSU lacks the fundamentals that ever college team should have and that starts at the top.

When 2 of your 4 coaches don’t coach anything, it’s hard to be detail oriented.

Listen to Big Ben’s comments: where are alll the upperclassmen starters that would prevent so many inexperienced players from having to play?

There doesn't seem to be much development. Seems lately if an LSU player shows up and plays well as a FR, they're not gonna get much better (if they do at all). As well as most of these guys played as FR, you would've expected them to go supernova as SO or JR.
* Daniel Cabrera - better as a FR than a SO (tho he was playing well pre-COVID)
* Zach Watson - better as a FR than SO, JR year equal to FR
* Zach Hess - amazing as a FR closer, sucked as a starter
* Eric Walker - injuries killed his career, but never could get close to his FR season
* Ma'khail Hilliard - good as a FR, terrible ever since
* Jaden Hill - barely pitched until this year, touted as a top draft pick, getting rocked as a JR
* Alex Lange - while he had a very good JR season, his FR season was his best (SO was so-so)
* Jared Poche - similar to Lange where his FR season was his best
* Cade Beloso - he looked like he was progressing and then this year started
Of course, there are some who have progressed (Josh Smith, Landon Marceaux), but that's a lot of key players who either plateaued or backslid.

Austin Bain was a better hitter than a pitcher. Nice try though.

Just trying to come up with names off the top of my head. I do agree that pitchers have not developed under Dunn. It seems that every time LSU has had a bonafide closer returning they regress the next year. Fontenot is the latest pitcher to just suddenly fall off a cliff from the previous year.

He doesnt recruit the players that will stay until their senior year
He waste scholarships on kids that never step foot on campus because they go into the draft and he’s losing players to other schools
And he has no idea how to manage a pitching rotation

That’s because Dunn tries to use college pitchers like MLB pitchers. Throwing them three times a week, one inning stints. Look at how variable the performance is year over year for mlb relievers and they’re the best of the best. and then think about how our guys are just teenagers still learning.

Bain barely pitched his 1st 3 years here and was our closer his senior year but I guess that doesn’t count?

This is not a legitimate criticism.

They aren’t there. That’s been the problem for years. They all leave

Agreed. Not an issue in college baseball.

Not many great players stay 4 years for anyone.
How do scholarships get used on players that aren’t in school?
He manages starting pitchers well enough, but he can completely misuse the bullpen.

It absolutely is. He needs to vet his prospects better and make better decisions
