Well to be honest these top classes Cain is bringing in, are pitcher heavy.

Huh

Y’all pimped all off season that Cade Beloso was the best returning hitter

A Cade Beloso caliber hitter should never be the best returning hitter on an LSU baseball team. Never

Go through the 3 classes leading up to this year. You have Daniel Cabrera, doughty, and basically nothing

So the question is why was Beloso the best returning hitter? LSU has been bringing in highly-regarded classes yet the results aren't measuring up. Either these experts are somehow missing on LSU recruits at a higher rate than anyone else or the talent is being wasted by the coaching staff.

They have to be when 50% of the pitchers we bring in are off the roster after 1 season.

That was the case with our classes for most of the last decade but it has been much more balanced recently.

These last years have been loaded with top talent.
Pitchers especially. Maybe too many?

Which players? please by specific who you think is some stud that is being wasted

The fact of the matter is LSU recruits itself. It’s not hard to get complacent & lose focus.

shite, they didn’t even have a left handed pitcher on the team a few years ago, bubba. Do people still not understand what kind of oversight that is?

Sometimes when I wake up to pee in the middle night, this thought crosses my mind and I’m still as bewildered as I was then.

In 2019 we brought in Travinski, Milazzo, Arnold, Doughty, Cranford, Sanford, Hampton and Toups.
Toups transferred I’m assuming because he wasn’t going to get playing time. Hampton is doing the same. The rest of the guys are still here but only Doughty has been a solid contributor but all were highly rated players out of high school. The talent is coming in but isn’t developing.

You had me until the development part. These players are getting the same practice reps as any other program. Baseball is much more objective than other sports in terms of proving yourself on the field. Doughty has proven himself, the others have not yet done so.

These old school coaches are having trouble relating to the new college athlete
It’s different
The fact he still had a clean shave policy was outdated
Recruiting these travel ball kids is a lot different than what recruiting was back in the day
They offer these kids as high school fr and soph nowadays
And the fact he felt the need to leverage his current job with Texas is when alleva should have said I think you should take the Texas job

What does that mean?

Are we recruiting players that have reached their potential before college?
Granted we are facing tougher pitching but AB’s are terrible, early on it looked like there was actual patience at the plate

Or is the staff so bad they cannot teach these kids fundamentals at the college level?

The situation with Hampton will forever piss me off. Gio's been hurt since the 2nd game of the season, no one has taken hold of the CF spot, yet Hampton can't get more than a few PHs while Drew fricking Bianco is getting starts? Maybe Hampton is the absolute worst player on the field during practice (doubt it), but Paul spends every March tinkering with the lineup; he can't give an elite athlete a start vs. Southern?? Will Hellmers practiced at 3rd for one whole week and started the first weekend series of the year.

I wouldn't be surprised if Arnold left either tbh. Started virtually the entire first month, hitting pretty well, and then he's benched for a utility infielder as soon as SEC play begins? What kinda bullshite is that?

Some players don’t live up to the hype & it has nothing to do with the development. The SEC is humbling.

And I don’t think they’ve particularly developed players well the last few years. Most of these guys just aren’t LSU standard

I honestly forgot about Gio because he’s been out for basically the entire season but he’s another veteran player and one they desperately miss in the lineup. He obviously wouldn’t have made a difference tonight but in the Tennessee series if we have a fully healthy Gio I think we at least win one of those close games.
