Two of my favorite Saints players of all time, both from LSU. Any updates on what's become of these two former standouts?

Dalton owns a labor supply company out of Houma. I get drinks with him on a pretty regular basis.

One day I was walking into my companies office when he was walking out. I looked at him and said to myself, man that guy looks familiar. Anyway, when I got inside everyone told me Dalton Hilliard just left. I was pretty pissed cause I wanted to at least meet him lol. Dalton was my man when I was kid and he played for the saints. Great 89 season if I remember correctly. I had his saints uniform with the helmet that I used to play football in all the time. Anyone remember those?

Used to see him in the quad. He was 5'8". I was 5'8". That's where the similarity ended.

When I was a kid growIng up in Gretna I went to the public golf course on Behrman to play golf by myself (rode my bike there in the good old days). This guy walks up and says they need one person do I want to join them I say sure. It was Eric Martin, Dalton Hilliard, and Frank Warren. Most memorable golf of my life and for a 10-14 year old my feet didn't hit the ground for weeks. Eric was the better golfer of the 3, Dalton was pretty good and Frank Warren stuck to football luckily. All great guys and what a neat thing for them to ask me to join their group.

Somewhere around 1990-ish when he was still playing with the Saints, I happened to run into Dalton at City Park Golf Course in BR (yes, THAT City Park, maybe the shittiest course ever). Very friendly guy. It was the off season and he was just out there taking in 9 holes like any other normal folk would.

I am 5'7 on a good day, and yes, Dalton was just a hair taller than me...but what struck me was the size of dude's thighs. His thighs were about the size of the trunk of a large oak tree. It was then when I realized what made him so good for a little guy. There was a lot of power in those legs.

Cool story, bro....like literally That must have been really awesome.

And it backs up the story I posted above of Dalton slumming on the public links

Eric Martin still comes around to home games. I see him every so often at them. He's always with his wife, that he met at a blackjack table a while back (pretty sure she was the dealer).

I own one of these. Paid $20, I think, at a Dillard's in '94.

Dalton Hilliard was my 1st ever favorite athlete, mostly because I saw how excited my dad would get during his freshman year. My dad would watch LSU games in his chair and then suddenly stand up and yell 'Geaux Dalton Geaux' and then look over at me and say 'Man, this guy's good, his legs never stop'.

One of my clearest memories from when I was only about 5 years old is being tucked into bed by my dad. It was shortly after Dalton's freshman year and I asked if he would play at LSU forever. He explained how he could only play three more years and that seemed like forever at the time. When he was drafted by the Saints, I started paying more attention to them and then they were suddenly good so I became a big Saints fan.

Two of my favorite Tigers and Saints.

Here is a typical stat line for Dalton when he was with the Saints:

29 carries for 82 yards. He had no blocking.

I moved from Alabama to Morgan City/Berwick in 1980. Saw Dalton Hilliard play for Patterson high school, just up the road from Berwick when he was a sophomore in HS. Though Berwick was not good, he stood out, also as a defensive back. Tried to get Alabama to recruit him.

The one common thing that we have found is that apparently Dalton plays a lot of golf, and has for a good while now....

In 1982 my sister was dating Greg Bowser, I was 14. One day Greg came to the house with Dalton, Lance Smith, and Malcolm Scott. Ironically Leonard Marshall grew up about 8 houses down from the street from where we lived in Franklin. Dalton had the biggest thighs I had ever seen. Awesome guy. Lance Smith was the biggest man I had seen besides Ernie Ladd. We were out playing football and Lance challenged me to a race. Needless to say that big man nearly beat me in that race. I knew then that I needed to up my game. It was a great treat to meet those guys and I still hold the LSU travel blanket.

Two of my all time favorite LSU players, because they played when I began watching as a kid. Glad to hear they're doing well after football.
