He's got a better shot with this team than next year's. All our experience will be gone.

not necessarily true. Tas will be back, garret green will be back (say what you want, but Trent is obsessed with him) farrer will be back (another solid role player that johnson really likes) as well as the newcomers this year such as bass and storm warren, after a year of experience. all of that being said, experience really isnt as important in basketball as in football or other sports. it is also very comforting to know that we have a competent coach who can give inexperienced players the best (or better) chance to be successful.

eta- forgot about Bo Spencer. He will be VERY valuable next year (as well as this year)

This team WILL NOT make the NCAA tourney. They just don't have enough talent, especially in the post

I think you're wrong. Also, I hope you're wrong.

I already have money on this team. Then again, I always put money on the Tigers. So, obviously, me putting $ on the Tigers ain't swaying things. Maybe, that changes this year. If it does, I'll buy you a drink.

If it doesn't change things, I'll give the matter the serious consideration it's due; and then, I'll bet on the Tigers again next year.

It's not really surprising the SEC in basketball has become what the Pac 10 is too football.

Struggling against inferior competition again

Some of you clowns must be the most miserable losers on the planet. I can't imagine another school with as many 'fans' who seem to relish and wallow in their own team's misery more than LSU fans.

Do us a favor and jump off a bridge.

Actually, I retract my statement.

Texas A&M CC joined the Southland. They are..6-6

Why the frick would a school from Texas deem themselves the Islanders?

This team will win the SEC west with a 10-6 record and win 21 reg season games on top of that.

We will win at least 1 SEC tourney game. We should be a 7-10 seed.

I have watched LSU basketball close since 1985 and for a guy my age, that's a lot. I can and often do compare teams. This team is a bit of '87 (great defense, good wing shooters, and just enough down low to get by) and '03 (steady point play, smaller lineup, and ability to be very explosive if shots fall). Both of those teams made the NCAA tourney as a 10 and 8 seed respectively. I think this team would average out at a 9 and I'd be happy with that.

Depth is the biggest problem and Trent doesn't have any of his system players yet, obviously. I think Terry Martin is a problem, as he just doesn't fit into this scheme. Aside from him, I have to ay I am pleased with what I have seen. Bass and Spencer are way ahead of schedule. Tasmin isn't 100 percent, but he's playing good enough. Marcus is a freak, as is CJ. Storm Warren is a helluva guy to have come in off the bench. GT still makes stupid GT mistakes - lazy passes and turnovers, but he plays great d and can man up on any team's best perimeter guy. Q Thornton is in the mold of the typical big man who can rebound and d up, but not score much. All in all, I think TJ has them playing much better than Brady would have.

This team is going to be fine. They just have to stay injury free. If Thornton or CJ or Tasmin go down, then that's about 5 wins we won't get. Just like years past - especially '01 and last season - being healthy can get any decent team into the tourney.

I agree, let's fricking quit. We'll get em next season, until then let's call it a season. Good run, looking forward to '09-'10.

On top of that, cut all the players. If we disband the team, we'll get the best recruits, because they'll all be immediate starters.

No, the PAC 10's somewhat respectable. SEC b-ball = Big East football.

Basically, a new trend has occurred. The handful of Brady lovers from last year want those of us who didn't like Brady to "stay tuned" for the "I told you so", when LSU loses or has a let down.

shite actually thats my bad i was thinking of galveston... but i did check it out and corpus christi is sort of like a peninsula... still not technically an island though. so the islanders name is somewhat puzzling... but if they were the galveston islanders, then its all good! haha

That he's got them playing at all as a team is an improvement over Brady. Even with a weak SEC this year, the test is to win games on the road in conference.
