DallasTiger55,
I have ATT Uverse. Why is this roped into the DirectTV mess? I know ATT owns DirectTV, so wouldn't that mean ATT would buy Dish?

I actually enjoy having a service where I can flip through channels and stop and watch a show I like on MAV TV, Nat Geo, History, etc.
Any recommendations of a service that I can still scroll thru channels and stop on shows I enjoy?

I've thought about Fubo and Sling but won't these guys have the same issues down the road. This is really more of a Disney issue IMO and them jacking rates and requiring more cluster of Disney owned services. They have us over a barrel and I can't stand them.

Do you realize there is DirecTV Stream? Basically the same thing as YT TV

I really like DIRECTV stream. I had YouTube Tv for like 30 days and the interface and literally everything about it sucks arse compared to DIRECTV stream.

As a bonus I figured out how to have my billing address to my Airbnb in Lake Charles and since I live out of state, I can turn off location on the DIRECTV stream box and still get local channels in SWLa which ensures I get all the saints games without having to pay for Sunday ticket.

I have DirectTV stream and when bundled with 2 ATT cellphones and ATT internet its a good value, and I like the interface. Much better than Cox.

I am, however, pretty Peeved about this. If it lasts more than another week then I may consider cancelling

anytime your DTV dish goes out due to weather or something else it will switch automatically to streaming now.

Who TF still has dish and directv? drop that crap and go streaming. If you live in the sticks get starlink and your golden. So many more options and 1/3 the price.

I’m a former Directv subscriber but I quit years ago and just do YouTube TV during football season and then immediately cancel after the season. It’s great because I only am paying for football and there are no contracts . Couldn’t care less about the other sports so works out well.

Yea I’m not happy, but there are enough work arounds imo to offset the inconvenience. Plus the fact that I genuinely enjoy DIRECTV steam over everything else, I don’t see me switching.

I do have espn plus for ufc so I can still watch espn on the app which I also love that you can access all your apps (espn, YouTube, Netflix) within DIRECTV.

I have faith they will work it out sooner rather than later.

That Is pretty awesome. I got away from the actual dish when we moved into a high rise years ago and directtv stream was the only option. Hated when the weather was bad during a big game

The DIRECTV stream product IMO is the best product on the market. The enhancements they have coming will be the first of its kind in the market. I’ve been testing it for years and it keeps getting better and better.

Think along the lines of streaming services being integrated with the channel numbers on the guide and you subscribe to whatever you want and it’s added to your package and you just pay DIRECTV every month, not each service. You get a discount for the more you bundle. They already have the services on the guide and it’s very easy to just click a channel and it goes to Netflix or Hulu.

just do not lose internet or you are screwed. may not matter now anyway if DTV is losing all these channels. they never got local NBC back. FOX was out for ages but they got that back. now ESPN is out.

When AT&T split off DIRECTV 3 years ago to be its own private company, it included just the video products including legacy UVERSE TV.

AT&T owns 70% of it but it’s just an investment as they don’t have board seats. DIRECTV has been very profitable since leaving AT&T and big things are coming. Packages and channels you don’t want will be a thing of the past.

If I were you I’d just bundle with directv stream. If you have AT&T Internet or wireless, you should still be able to get a discount to bundle. All money and resources are going to the Stream product.

I've had DirecTV for 25 years and I think I can speak to this issue. When I first got DTV in 1999, I was also looking at Dish. There were two issues that settled me on DTV. The first was that I didn't have clear line of sight to the Dish satellite, and DTV had the NFL Sunday Ticket.

In the 25 years since, I've been pleased with the service from DirecTV. For the first 20 years or so, DTV was its own entity. About 5 or so years ago, AT&T bought DirecTV. That's when the trouble started. Within months, AT&T started picking fights, first with the local channels, then with the satellite providers. The squabbles resulted in the local channels and then the other providers being taken off the air until they were ready to play ball with AT&T. We lost CBS, NBC, and ABC for a time, and then it was Altitude, where the Colorado Avalanche play. And these moves were made right before the season started.
Now, it's the Disney network that's been targeted. I currently have 11 channels that I currently watch that are off the air. This includes all of the ESPN channels, SEC Network, and Discovery.

It's important to know that this disruption is not the workings of DirecTV; it's that of their slave masters at AT&T. None of this ever happened when DirecTV was in charge of its own destiny.

I dumped DrectTV for Hulu streaming. Cheaper and a lot better for sports options.

Seems to coincidental that Venue the sports streaming service for ESPN, Fox and Warner Bros that was to start the 1st weekend for college football aligns with this outage. If FUBO wouldn't have gotten the injunction to stop them, they would have had an option/solution for the folks that only watch have DirecTV.. now they are waiting to see what's going to happen in court before they give Directv the rights back. So long story short probably be a minute

I liked DTV Stream also. Had them past 2.5 years. Liked the box and being able to punch in numbers directly instead of scrolling thru the interface.

However, I just cancelled them and picked up SlingTV again. I know they aren’t as good as YTTV but wanted bare minimum for bare minimum costs. Only need it for sports. Use other streaming services for TV shows and movies.

Yea on the menu go to settings and then device preferences. Scroll down to click on location and turn it off. You might have to do a force stop. Getting it to update the changes is the confusing part. I think I reset the box and then turned it off and back on and it updated to lake Charles local channels. It works. I watched every saints game last year in Nashville.
