But will there really be a difference in attendance once restrictions are lifted? I mean...who watches basketball anyway?

I haven't really followed LSU basketball since the mid-90s, but judging from TheRant, it seems like Will Wade's teams are starting to fill the PMAC again. It'd be neat to see it return to the raucous days it knew during Dale Brown's golden days in the 1980s.

They can’t figure out and disseminate a football plan and that’s a week away, and you expect something that’s 2+ months from now?

What would make you think that? They just extended the dead period to the end of this year and the whole football season is reduced capacity and that runs to December.

I have to wonder if they will give fans an opportunity to opt out like football.

The NCAA just said yesterday that the season will start on November 25th (day before Thanksgiving). There is a limit on the number of non-conference and overall games a team can play. I would guess the next step would be for the SEC to announce how they will handle the conference schedule.

LINK

quote:

The maximum number of contests was reduced by four, given that the season will start 15 days later than originally scheduled. In men’s basketball, teams can schedule 24 regular-season games and participate in one multiple-team event that includes up to three games; 25 regular-season games and participate in one multiple-team event that includes up to two games; or 25 regular-season games if a team does not participate in a multiple-team event.

There could be nonconference bubbles played in several cities during the December holiday break. Conference games played as usual with limited or no fan attendance. NCAA tourney could be in a bubble environment. All of this has been discussed previously. How it all plays out will be determined by the Covid situation at the time.

LSU MBB will be handled similarly to LSU football. Probably 25% capacity, masks for sure, etc.

Note: it is gonna be a long time til we can all go maskless in public places. It will take over 6 months to admin vaccines after one or more are approved. The legal limitations to gathering will continue far after a vaccine has been approved.

Not to mention it is an indoor arena; so possibly even greater restrictions because of that.

Hopefully they can make the VCU and Syracuse games still work. Houston would be a good one to keep as well for strength of schedule and competition.

I was/am SO looking forward to running the cluse's arse this year. My best buddy of 30 years is a cluse fan, and I thoroughly enjoyed the 2 wins in football recently.
