Early 90s

Dinardo then changed it to the LSU I believe. And Saban brought it back.

I’m 99% sure about the start time but the Dinardo and Saban part is memory so could be off a few years.

I think it was 83, definitely the early 80s, but Dinardo switched to the block LSU logo, and Saban switched it back to the Eye of the Tiger

The song “eye of the tiger” came out in ‘82 (Rocky 3 movie) and I’m pretty sure we had it on the field the next year…my Sophomore year.

It's cool and unique. I would like to see the Tiger from the helmets on the field. That's is a great Logo.

It used to be painted off center, to the left of the 50, too. I think ‘83 was the first year because it wasn’t on the field in the ‘82 Florida State oranges game that’s floating around YouTube. I guess it could have been on the field earlier that year, but LSU stopped painting midfield in the early ‘70s and didn’t do it regularly again until the eye appeared in the early ‘80s.

It wasn’t on the field for the ‘83 opener against Florida State but it was for Alabama later in the ‘83 season. Enjoy the white Alabama helmets from that game, too.

1983 was the first time I ever remember seeing it.

Dinardo brought back the whites as part of the "bring back the magic" campaign in the 90s

But the last time the eye of the tiger was on the field was in 1985.

We had a big purple Louisiana at the 50 in 85 or 86 for a minute

And we still just had the block "LSU" at the 50, and "TIGERS" in the endzone for Dinardo's whole tenure if I recall.

Then Saban brought back the eye of the tiger and the, I don't know what you call it font for the LSU in the endzones.

From my recollection, they did that because of the filming of Everybody’s All American. Pretty certain the school name in the movie was fictitious so they wanted midfield to be generic.
