I’ve always said he saved O’s arse long enough for him to get Joe Burrow.

Danny Etling was a good QB!

LSU QB Mount Rushmore:
Joe Burrow
Jayden Daniels
Danny Etling
Tommy Hodson

These are facts.

Umm I would at least put Mauk and Flynn on their before Etling.

At least they got LSU a championship.

Didn't the #18 tradition start under Mauk???

Also , what about Bert Jones ?

And NFL HOF Y. A. Tittle??

Can you give one example of someone calling him elite?

That's what I'm waiting on. I've never seen an "inflated perception" of Etling on this board.

I think it has something to do with his dating Taylor Swift on the side and getting his own statue outside of Tiger Stadium.

Some of the people on here are acting like we should have a statue of him on campus and that he should be on the Mt. Rushmore of LSU QB’s.

No one has even remotely said anything like this. Go take your meds.

Actually people were saying this type stuff last week or the week before. But it was all (or mostly) tongue-in-cheek.

Joe Burrow, Jayden Daniels, Jamarcus Russell, Matt Flynn, Zach Mettenberger, Rohan Davey, and Matt Mauck should be ahead of Etling, and that’s only QB’s from the year 2000 on.

Who is putting him ahead of any of them?

He was an average, serviceable quarterback made to look better because of the putrescence of the likes of Harris and Jennings. But I'd put Lee and Jefferson ahead of him (minus you know what)

Etling was tough which is what buys him a lot of cred on here. He was nothing more than average.

If he was anything more, we don't get housed by BAMA @ Bama in 2017.

It's pretty irrational-- he wasn't that good.

His finest moment was the "game-winning" touchdown pass v Auburn which escorted Les Miles off the LSU sidelines. For that alone he deserves an honorable place in the LSU Sports Hall of Fame.

Etling represented the end of the Miles offensive era. I will always love him for that. Vanilla Vick forever LSU.

Etling walked so Burrow could run!

Can’t say burrow in 2018 wasn’t similar to Etling in 2016 and 2017. Tough gamer kid that led the offense under the circumstances.

He was a gamer that left it all out on the field. He was also the first decent QB that brought us out of the offensive dark days despite having less talent that some other QBs we had that played like absolute shite

Statistically Danny not much better than Harris or even Jennings.

D Etling came at the right time after 3-4 HORRIBLE QB’s. He looked way better than he really was because of that reason. He did however have a good career as a back up in the NFL.

In comparison to Jennings and Harris, he was Tom Brady. Les couldn’t get out of his own way with offense nor develop a quarterback to save his life.
Yall have revionist history. While Harris did regress, his 2015 season is damn near the same as Etling's 2017 season. The one major difference is that his top WR was DJ Chark who caught plenty errant Etling passes, and Harris's was Dupre, who constantly got knocked off his routes and pushed out of bounds.
