One glaring image I can't get out of my head is how unathletic West Weeks looked in the open field getting his ankles broken by Klubnik on his scramble to the right side where klubnik gained 15 before stepping out of bounds untouched. He didn't play bad per se but really didn't feel like he made a difference. Am I off on this take?

Also, what's up with Singleton? Athletic freak in highschool.

Edit. Just finished watching tape he had a pretty good game. I take it back guys! Geaux tigahs.

My guess is that the defense has so many freak athletes that having a West weeks that can be trusted to do his job is at a premium over another freak athlete that might make mental mistakes.

If I am remembering the play you are talking about it was our DE that got into Weeks way. Had the DE not gotten in the way, it was a sack, sorry I mean intentional grounding that isn’t called play.

I thought West Weeks looked good personally.

My one and only MILD complaint from our defense Saturday was some missed tackles from T.Cooley, but he made some other good plays so I'm not concerned.

So far watching game back, he had one tackle in pass game on a big gain, one missed tackle where klubnik juked him, and one "tackle" at goal line where the rb trucked him for a touchdown and he held on for a ride. Will watch second half later today.

I'm not saying he didn't. I'm just curious if he's that much better than singleton and keys. I'm going to trust baker just curious what y'all thought.

West got in space with a playmaker and the play maker made a play.

idk what else you wanted him to do in the spot. He was covering a guy, Cade started to scramble, he got caught flat footed and got shook.

That would happen to literally everyone except for nfl players

First, Klubnik's longest gain was 7 yards (that play).

Second, that was a difficult play because West was in coverage, and by the time he could come off, he was in a bad position to make a tackle, so what he did was cut off the path to the middle of the field, which was probably the best thing he could do.

First game, most returning, hostile environment, being somewhat conservative on substitutions is preferable. Probably why Chester subbed at tackle.

This is the week we hopefully take care of business early and get to see all the other recruits we’ve been following.

Another week of 1-0

I only saw one that was rough towards the end of the game he missed that tackle along left sideline where the receiver was able to gain 5-10 yards more before getting tackled. Whit also missed a TFL on a run up the middle the play where he got hurt where he sat out a few snaps after.

Weeks was also moving in the wrong direction in coverage as Klubnik approached on that scramble, made it look much worse than it was. I thought he played well, better than I expected. Also loved how he trailed plays with effort, made a couple downfield tackles that would have been much longer gains.

I think it comes down to the playbook. Weeks may have a better grasp on coverages and assignments. Pound for pound, Keys and Singleton are probably better athletes.

Cooley also got beat over the middle in the first half for a long gain. Looked to be in man and the WR went out and then back in almost like an angle route.

We are kid of nitpicking becuas ethere were so few bad plays that the ones that happened really stood out.

Two All-Americans and a 5th yr Senior that has gotten better and better, West was dinged up last year.
His time will come, he, Keys, Ross, Braker, Weeks#3, Moses - we sitting pretty good at LB. Find another boat to rock.
