I thought it was 2nd.

The two best hitters bat 2nd and 4th. The one with the most power hits 4th.

So apparently more people thought he was more valuable to the Detroit Tigers than Mike Trout was to the Angels.

You could potentially make a case for both players, but the way this guy completely and utterly dismisses Cabrera is mind-boggling.

Oh there is not doubt a case could be made for both. I am just saying that more people thought Cabrera was the man. Hence the reason why he won it. Everything this guy has said has been pretty mind boggling to me.

I have absolutely no problem with this thought. It's just that, in this case, the "thing" that has been done is a team that is ranked #1, has a 52-9 record, won the SEC tournament, won their regional and is 2 wins from Omaha. You just don't tweak that. It's almost stubborn and arrogant to suggest such.

Guys, LSU wins because of talent. It's not MLB where everyone is a pro and most teams (except for Houston this year lol) are relatively equal 1-25 talent wise. LSU's bench is more talented than probably 75% of our schedule this year.

Something tells me no amount of talent can win using your system.

Im only upset about the whole Trout/Cabrera ordeal because it was so ignorant when it happened. He won because of the triple crown and that's the only reason. He is a one-dimensional player (although that one dimension is incredible, he's the best hitter on the planet) and was handed the award over a more deserving complete player that played both sides of the ball at a more important position at an elite level.

You're implying that LSU wins on talent alone and that even if we flipped the lineup to your liking and put Ibarra at leadoff, Bregman 2nd, any random frick 3rd we'd still beat everyone.

Side note - To imply that LSU is THAT far ahead of the rest of the SEC in terms of talent is just ignornant.

Hitting is divided into 2 categories. Hitting for average and hitting for power. Those are two of the 5 tools a baseball player can have. He was the best on the planet last year in both of those 2 categories. 40% of the makeup of a baseball player.

He's not a random frick, but he is one of the last players I would choose to put in the 3 hole, just before Laird.

We never won until Bertman.
Coaching brought winning.
Winning brought better talent.
The winning dropped off some after Bertman with Smoke.
CPM has returned us to a high level of winning.
This has increased our talent.
Looks like it goes hand in hand to me.
You seem like the kind who would mess with a great recipe just to tweak it some...until it became a nasty mess.

And that means he was the most valuable player how? And hitting may be cut a dry like that (although it really isnt), but offensive production and how runs are scored are more complex. Mike Trout had 431 total bases last year while Cabrera had 447. Mike Trout also saved his team 15 defensive runs in CF while Cabrera cost his team 9. A baseball players is required to play defense as well.

Where exactly did I say it did? I didn't.

You said he was one dimensional.
That is an incorrect statement. He can hit for average and he can hit for power.

Of course it goes hand in hand. You know what else goes hand in hand with great coaching (and is one the best attributes Les Miles has). Recruiting. Why are you even bringing this up. I think CPM is a great coach. He represents LSU great, is respected amongst his peers, has discipline on the team and wins a shitpile of games. All I want is for Laird to not bat leadoff. That's it. That's the only damn reason I posted on this thread in the first place.
