Realistic goal most seasons should be to make it to Omaha

Well, the tournament is not necessarily the optimum way to determine the best team, either.

Agree to an extent. Except you have to win more than 1 CSS game

Explain Casey at Oregon State. Clearly at a disadvantage, but they win. The #1 class in 14 has been run off for the most part. This freshman class has talent, but next year REALLY concerns me.

That wasn't the question.

It's should always be to win the CWS. If that's not the goal anymore that just shows where the program has fallen.

Talking about expectations

CPM would tell you himself: Win a national championship. LSU should never strive for anything less.

Goal is to win NC. Barometer for success is related but different:

Have fun playing a game
Win more than you lose
Get better throughout the year
Gymnast poon
Qualify for postseason
Win the SEC
Host a regional
National seed
Make CWS
Make final series
Add a NC year to Intimidator

have fun, play up to capabilities, represent LSU well, make it to postseason and see what happens

It's a simple goal that's extremely hard to accomplish.... Make it to Omaha. I could give two shits about our record or winning the SEC or being a top 8 national seed. All of that don't mean dick if you can't make it to Omaha.

That's the expectations for a program like LSU. Is it a lofty goal? Absolutely. But it comes with the territory when you're, arguably, the most storied program in college baseball. Any season that doesn't end in a trip to Omaha is under achieving.

Now, I realize that it's hard to ask any program to make it year in and year out. I'm just saying that should be the expectations. If you set the bar lower, you get lower results.

No one cares if Duke or Kentucky win the ACC or SEC championship in men's basketball.

It's all about the postseason. 56 games lead to the postseason. We now have a new beginning. LSU is 0-0. The postseason defines the meaning.

Whatever. The Conference Championship is meaningful.

Competitors set their goals to win in all. I'm sure that's the team's expectation.

As for fans, our goal should be whatever each of us individually considers a successful season.

If you ask the team, I'm pretty sure winning the conference is a goal and as much as posters down play the tourney, that too is a goal of our team.
