i hear that our 7th string TE is hurt. Why isn't there a thread about him?

how do u figure that?

But in the opening drills this spring, Ridley, 5-11, 222 pounds was lining up in what appeared to be the first string backfield with Scott at fullback.

so, you're saying that none of the other RBs would have had a say? he would have just been given the starting job?

Did you watch Ridley at all on special teams last year? He has more heart and more to prove than any of the other big time RB's in front of him. Not saying he would have been given the spot but all indications point to him giving the other guys a run for their money.

Richard Murphey tore up the Spring game last year too. How much did he play last season? Spring practice is not a strong indicator of anything. Everything changes a lot between then and the start of the season.

miles has shown an obvious preference for big backs

after this year, what big back do we even have on our roster other than ridley?

Murphy and Ridley are two completely different type of backs. Let's just agree to disagree.

Justin Vincent tore it up on special teams as well but that didn't merit him a starting running back position.

And yet you saw where it eventually landed him as a starting back for a NC team. All I'm merely stating is that he has a big heart, good size, and a lot to prove. Nobody is guaranteed anything..I just liked his chances this year.

Wrong again. JV was a starter his FRESHMAN year, he underachieved after that and it landed him a job on special teams

Ridley was going to see significant playing time this year.. and was going to be the main guy in 2010.

I hope he recovers.

Then you can't use JV as an example as he played first and then was relegated to special teams as many a night at Bogie's caught up with him. Ridley on the other hand started on special teams and was working his way up to playing more time in FB/RB spot. Circle gets the square.

Yes I can. After his first year he never showed that he had what it took to be a starter. Ridley hasn't shown that ability either otherwise he'd have played more in his career. The fact is, is that he's hardly seen the field and there's a reason for that and that is because he is not better than the other backs we have.

has the rant forgotten miles' love affair with older players?

Typical ranter that will believe a comment like that with no basis. There is no evidence that supports the statement that Ridley was going to see significant playing time this year
